We are looking for a Sr. Data Scientist to play a key role within our growing Insights & Marketing team at Experian.

As a seasoned leader, you will make our data & insights more actionable and approachable that can help identify market opportunities, insights for Thought Leadership and more. You will also develop capabilities to provide advanced insights and predictive analytics to inform nextgen opportunities.

You will be accountable to drive results quickly and accurately, building partnerships across the enterprise to drive adoption of capabilities that drive insights, power sales and generate demand.

This position is based at our Orange County office located in Costa Mesa, CA.

Key job functions include:

  • Gathers, cleans, evaluates and documents large data sets from a variety of sources to identify trends and business opportunities

  • Develops tools for data processing and information retrieval

  • Applies, modifies and develops regressions and other models to answer strategic business questions

  • Identify/develop appropriate machine learning/deep learning/data mining/text mining techniques to uncover the value of the data

  • Designs data structure and data storage schemes for efficient data manipulation and information retrieval

  • Effectively summarizes and communicates results of analyses, developing recommendations to improve the business

  • Develops dashboards and reports, leveraging data visualization and other tools

  • Capable of presenting to both internal executive stakeholders and clients, quickly showing credibility and demonstrating excellent communication skills

  • Collaborates with other analytics personnel, improving data science approaches, efficiency and cadence of output

  • Documents and presents model process and model performance


  • Bachelor, Master, or PHD, in Computer Science, Math, Physics, Engineering, Data Science, Statistics, or related quantitative field

  • Advanced working R, Python, and Git experience

  • Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases and connectors

  • Advanced working knowledge of Tableau or equivalent plus Alteryx experience

  • Experience with Salesforce SOQL and Oracle Eloqua queries and data integration

  • Experience with Oracle BI and Hyperion queries and connectors

  • Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement

  • Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets

  • Build data pipeline supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency and workload management

  • A successful history of manipulating, processing and extracting value from large disconnected datasets

  • Working knowledge of AWS, Azure, Hadoop and Spark is a plus

  • Strong project management and organizational skills

  • 3 years managerial experience

  • 5 years' experience in data science, computer science, or quantitative analysis

  • Experience building database roadmaps

  • Experience initiating and driving projects to completion with minimal guidance

  • Demonstrated track record of cultivating strong working relationships and driving results while collaborating and bringing others with you
