As part of the Data Science department at DMG, we are seeking a Sr. Data Science Architect who is passionate about the data and thrives in a fast-paced environment to have a positive impact on the DMG business and the society. The Data Science department develops tools, technologies, models to solve business problems and provide actionable insights by leveraging the large, complex datasets and domain expertise. The Data Science department works in close coordination with other cross-functional business departments such as Data Engineering, Data Governance, and Product and Engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proposes, designs, and develops predictive and prescriptive solutions in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders; facilitates implementation leveraging Product & Engineering and other functions as necessary

  • Able to translate the high-level business requirements into detailed system-level and functional requirements for technical implementation

  • Works with data architects, data architects, data engineers, data scientists, business analysts, and information designers to identify requirements on data structures, formats, pipelines, metadata, security, and orchestration and efficient workflow capabilities

  • Acts as a hands-on technical liaison between engineering teams and data scientists

  • Investigates, analyzes, preprocesses large structured and unstructured datasets; performs necessary checks for reasonableness, completeness and accuracy.

  • Develops a scalable architecture toward an end-to-end process from procuring the raw data to converting into actionable insights (decisions, monitoring, etc.), including automated data model pipelines

  • Able to wear multiple hats from data architect to product manager to business analyst

  • Analyzes, documents, and communicates the results, processes, and insights to internal stakeholders

  • Understands, follows, and support internal and external compliance requirements/standards

  • Creates and maintains productive relationships within the DMG technical community; keeps current with technology, methods, and best practices; participates in peer reviews and educating internal stakeholders

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in data science, engineering, mathematics, statistics/applied statistics, computer science or related quantitative field; advanced degree (Masters or PhD) is a plus

  • 8+ years demonstrated experience designing, coding, developing, testing, and implementing predictive and prescriptive solutions at the product or enterprise level

  • 3+ years of experience in product management role and business analyst role

  • Proficient with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and data science architecture tools to deploy production-ready commercial solutions in the cloud

  • Experience with machine learning and deep learning techniques for both structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data, e.g., Regression, SVM, PCA, NLP, regression/decision trees, image processing/modeling

  • Proficient in AI/ML models, libraries, packages, tools, and frameworks e.g., Tensorflow, PyTorch, MXNet, Skikit-learn, Keras, Jupyter.

  • Proficient in mechanisms to extract and prepare data from diversified internal and external data sources (real-time or offline) using SQL, Python, Restful APIs

  • Proficient in containerization, virtual environments, integrated development environments, dev

Ops techniques, data mining, streaming, and data analysis and visualization tools, e.g., Docker, Conda, Kaftka, Spark, Power BI

  • Works effectively in a team environment with high-level of accountability

  • Familiarity with data filtering, data cleansing, and outlier detection techniques

  • Experience with controls and large-scale optimization architectures is a plus

  • Ability to handle and manage multiple concurrent assignments efficiently

  • Prior experience in facility management, HVAC, or services-based business is a bonus

This role will be proficient in investigating, transforming, and combining data of different data sources and types. Ideal candidates are prepared to design appropriate architecture to support business data needs and create consumable analysis-ready data sets. The Sr. Data Engineer will educate business partners on the use and sources of data. They will identify and explore new data sources. Assignments may include supporting Data Science, Data Governance, integrations and/or deployments with Product & Engineering and other technical professionals, overseeing support of other engineers, and collaboration with business partners within and across business teams. Key Responsibilities * Creates and maintains optimal data pipeline architecture for extraction, transformation, and loading of data from various data sources - both internal and external * Builds analytical tools to utilize the data pipeline * Assembles large, complex sets of data that meet non-functional and functional business requirements * Builds industrialized analytic datasets and delivery mechanisms that utilize the data pipeline to deliver actionable insights * Identifies, designs, and implements internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc. * Contributes to the architecture and design for scalable and efficient model deployments * Investigates data, data sources and performs data quality analysis * Communicates and maintains master data, metadata, data management repositories, logical data models, data standards * Works with stakeholders including the executive, product, data and design teams to support their data infrastructure needs while assisting with data-related technical issues * Establishes and teaches best practices related to data access and queries for data users * With minimal direction, plans, implements, manages, and/or contributes on projects that are moderate to high complexity and scale using accepted project management standards * Trains/coaches team members or peers and actively shares expertise with peers Job Qualifications * 5+ years of hands-on experience with Big Data Tools: Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, etc. * Mastery of relational SQL and NoSQL databases, including Postgres and Cassandra * Experienced with data pipeline and workflow management tools: Azkaban, Luigi, Airflow, etc. * Experienced with Stream-processing systems: Storm, Spark-Streaming, etc. * 5+ years with object-oriented/object function scripting languages: Python, Java, C++, Scala, etc. * Proficiency with geospatial data: latitude/longitude, geopoint/vector containers, geohash, H3, shapefiles, etc. * Experienced with data wrangling and preparation for use within data science, actuarial, business intelligence or similar analytical workflows * A demonstrable understanding of networking/distributed computing environment concepts * Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to effectively collaborate with multi-disciplinary groups and all organizational levels * High level organizational and project management skills in order to handle multiple concurrent assignments in a timely manner and to monitor processes throughout a team or department * Strong decision-making skills Education: Master's degree or equivalent experience in information technology, computer science, data science, engineering, mathematics, statistics/applied statistics, or related field DMG is an equal opportunity employer.
