The GFTS Data Services group supports the Citigroup Global Functions of Finance, Enterprise Risk, and Compliance. The group provides centralized expertise in data management processes and technologies, in the areas of Data Architecture, Data Modeling, Data Lineage, Data Quality, Data Acquisition, Integration and Distribution.

Data Modeler is responsible for the design and support of logical and physical data models developed in support of a global data warehouse for use by Finance, Enterprise Risk and Compliance across all lines of business. Modeler will be responsible for all deliverables associated with the models, including source to target mappings and data dictionary. Architect will also support development, testing, and production of the data warehouse.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain logical data models.

  • Transform logical models into physical database designs for relational or NoSQL platforms.

  • Develop mappings of sources to target databases, including documentation of transformation rules.

  • Maintain high-quality meta-data to support the enterprise data dictionary

  • Communicate regularly with architects and modelers working in parallel tracks to maintain consistency of models and other deliverables.

  • Assess the quality of data during development and test phases of the projects, and open trouble tickets when defects are found. Follow up with development teams to insure that issues are resolved expeditiously.

  • Respond promptly to trouble tickets opened by testers and production users who report defects in the data. Pinpoint the root cause and assign the tickets to the appropriate development teams.

  • Oversee the development of scripts to implement data model changes, archive and purge, or correct bad data, as required.

  • Contribute to standards for logical and physical model development.

  • Develop or enhance templates and quality standards for modeling team deliverables such as mappings and technical specs.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience creating logical and physical data models for relational and NoSQL platforms

  • Extensive experience building large Data Warehouses (30+ TB) and back-office systems.

  • Domain knowledge of banking products such as deposits, loans, securities, derivatives, etc.

  • Domain knowledge in Accounting, Finance, Risk Management, and Regulatory Reporting in the Banking industry

  • Knowledge of and experience applying data and object modeling techniques and best practices.

  • Experience working with and supporting ETL and Front-End development teams.

  • Strong RDBMS and/or Big Data implementation experience.

  • Ability to write complex SQL needed to investigate data issues, repair damaged data, and migrate data to new structures.

  • Familiarity with tuning and performance optimization techniques.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including use of Excel for presentation of data and mappings.

  • Demonstrate Complete System Development Life Cycle experience for large scale complex projects with various industries.

  • Overall from 8+ years of data architecture experience.

  • Ability to work independently under strict deadlines.

  • Past experience in IBM BDW implementations a strong plus.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience

  • Master's degree preferred
