Responsibilities
The Sr. Data Governance Analyst leads the definition and delivery of data-related products that provide strategic capabilities and value to the enterprise. They partner with business and technical stakeholders to identify critical needs and develop delivery plans to address them. This role is expected to understand, support, and socialize the GMF Data Governance and Enablement strategy and align products with overall strategic priorities. They are empowered to define innovative solutions to organizational data governance challenges and manage their delivery.
What makes an ideal candidate?
Lead the definition of the Master Data Management (MDM) product, including developing the vision, strategy, development plan, and roadmap
Proactively collaborate with key stakeholders to identify goals, current needs, functional gaps, and opportunities to enhance current processes to bring value to MDM product users
Regularly meet with stakeholders to gather new requirements, plan releases, review increments, and provide transparency into development progress
Build and manage the MDM product backlog
Work with the engineering team to translate product requirements into technical requirements and manage the MDM product engineering backlog
Take responsibility for adherence to product schedules and roadmap
Measure product performance and ensure accountability for delivering business value and results
Assist in the development of GMF Data Governance and Enablement strategy
Identify new opportunities to enhance the value of the organization's data
Work closely with Data Governance and Enablement peers to ensure alignment with policies, stewardship and literacy activities, and engineering efforts
Collaborate with domain data leaders to address data issues and leverage opportunities, ensuring data governance frameworks are in line with enterprise goals and regulatory standards
Recommend and develop data governance policies and standards organization-wide
Assist in the development and delivery of data literacy education for the GMF enterprise
Apply agile values and principles, and help drive the team and organization to higher levels of agile maturity
Facilitate various Scrum and/or Kanban activities such as: Daily Scrum, Sprint Planning, Sprint Reviews, and Sprint Retrospectives
Working closely with the Data Governance and Enablement Program Management team to ensure product capabilities meet operations and stewardship needs
Extensive knowledge of data management and data governance principles, implementations, and latest industry trends
Knowledge of Master Data Management concepts, methodologies, and best practices
Experience leading data-related product development or product management initiatives
Experience collaborating with multiple business stakeholders, including actively engaging and aligning with enterprise senior leadership to drive data governance initiatives and strategies in line with the overall organizational goals
Demonstrated experience working within Agile frameworks including Kanban or Scrum
Working knowledge of various data storage services, including relational databases, content management repositories, shared file systems, etc
Working knowledge of various data and metadata repository types and tools, including metadata, CMDB, business glossary, data catalog, etc (Informatica CDGC or Atlan is a plus)
Exposure to cloud data platforms such as Azure or AWS
Strong critical thinking and analytical skills
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills
Ability to manage business and technical relationships, and ensure effective communication between them
Ability to interpret technical documentation and models, including software and database specifications
Ability to lead meetings with various stakeholders and SMEs, promote vision, build consensus and guide to decisions
Ability to elicit requirements from stakeholders, design high-level solutions to address business or technical issues, and guide implementation to completion
Ability to and train others on the use of technology solutions
Qualifications
Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent work experience required
5-7 years of experience in a technical or analytical role required
2-4 years of experience in a formal Data Governance role required
2-4 years of experience in an organizational leadership role preferred
