Primary Purpose

Serves as an expert in carrying out the operational responsibilities of data analysis and reporting functions for assigned area in order to assist management in the successful analysis and achievement of goals.

Minimum Specifications

Education

  • Must have a bachelor's degree in a health-related field or Information Systems. -Prefer a master's degree in a related field.

Experience

  • Must have four years of experience in analysis of healthcare or business-related data and information systems.

Equivalent Education and/or Experience

  • May have an equivalent combination of education and/or experience in lieu of specific education and/or experience as stated above.

Required Tests for Placement

  • Must be able to successfully pass the Standard-level Microsoft Excel test, as established by Employment Services, with a minimum score of 80%.

Skills or Special Abilities

  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of program evaluation methods, statistical analysis, research skills, management information systems, and strategic planning.

  • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in personal computer usage.

  • Must be able to demonstrate a thorough working knowledge of statistical analysis, database design and analysis and management information systems.

  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge with regard to the software application used in the assigned area.

For Medical Affairs

  • Must have working knowledge of the provider credentialing process, and credentialing audits.

  • Must have a working knowledge of licensing, board certifications, additional credentialing requirements, and the verification of expirable.

  • Must have a working knowledge of provider privileging and experience with delineation of privileges.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a technical expert within the assigned department. Works with department management to ensure that staff have timely access to accurate data resources in support of patient and provider needs.

  • Utilizes knowledge of current and planned Parkland systems, department applications, testing tools, change management procedures, monitoring tools, security administration and disaster recovery procedures.

  • 3Coordinates the evaluation, implementation, and analysis of existing and potential department software solutions and releases. Works with vendors to ensure smooth and effective transition and ongoing operation.

  • Works closely with Information Systems and Telecommunications to coordinate procurement, installation, and maintenance of department hardware and software. Refers all issues to appropriate personnel to ensure availability of systems on a continuous basis.

  • Identifies appropriate data elements and sources to meet department resource needs. Responsible for ensuring data delivery, receipt, and validation.

  • Serves as a data administrator for department applications. Ensures that department data is collected, records are updated and maintained appropriately, and applications operate as designed.

  • Directs the day-to-day operations and utilization of the database system, maintaining its integrity, including performance tuning, and monitoring, back-up, and recovery. Isolates and resolves problems affecting database as whole or in part, as required.

  • Designs and distributes standard reports, statistical summaries, and special reports using data elements necessary to achieve pertinent and accurate output in support of department and organization.

  • Develops and maintains specifications and technical documentation for assigned systems to ensure that maintenance procedures are documented, and that reference information is available when needed.

  • Participates in the development of instructional materials, and the delivery of education and training for system users to ensure that customers are able to efficiently utilize the system.

  • Works with management team to implement new projects and directives. Monitors and reports the results of project or directive implementation to management.

  • Works on complex analytics for the department, combining data from multiple sources to obtain results.

For Pharmacy

  • Responsible for obtaining and maintaining an EPIC training status of Proficient Self-Study or higher for the Clinical Data Model in order to develop effective reports.

For Medical Affairs

  • Maintain current knowledge of Joint Commission, NCQA, and other regulatory body requirements.

  • Identify potential red flags within provider records and reporting.

  • Identify, analyze, and design solutions for, data and system issues that have the potential to negatively impact the credentialing process, department efficiency, downstream data flow, regulations, bylaws, and compliance.

Job Accountabilities

  • Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction. Makes recommendations to supervisor, implements, and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals of the department and Parkland.

  • Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends in the field by attending seminars/workshops, reading professional journals, actively participating in professional organizations, and/or maintaining certification or licensure. Integrates knowledge gained into current work practices.

  • Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines that impact the area. Develops effective internal controls designed to promote adherence with applicable laws, accreditation agency requirements, and federal, state, and private health plans. Seeks advice and guidance as needed to ensure proper understanding.
