Job Description Summary

A Senior Data Analyst is responsible for ensuring data products and services are serviceable and valuable to users. Key responsibilities include working with users and development teams to ensure the data is fit for purpose, defining and monitoring the processes and controls that adhere to EDM Standards, and helping to triage and remediate data incidents. This role assists users with data queries and metadata, performs data analysis to reveal business insights, communicates data changes, and provides training to users so they understand and can access the data they need. A Senior Data Analyst is an individual contributor at a program level. They will work with the users to ensure data is accurate, complete and fit for purpose. Performs data analysis and helps construct reports to answer business questions and reveal business insights. Guides changes to data capture processes and data transformation logic. Maintains an inventory of all applications and data transformation in the data flow for the domain. Contributes to the definition and maintenance of the domain dictionary. Performs impact analysis of data changes, proactively communicates to and trains users on the changes. Assists in the definition, stewardship, quality control, metadata and access of data owned by respective domain. Implements and monitors required transport controls and maintenance of all required metadata to comply with EDM Standards for the data domain. Helps triage and resolve data incidents for the domain across Capture, Transport and Use in a timely manner. Aligns and monitors key performance indicators and internal controls.

Standard Job Description

This job is responsible for ensuring operational data is fit for purpose, defining controls, and monitoring processes are in adherence to enterprise data management standards. Key responsibilities include triaging and remediating data incidents, performing data analysis, training new users, and performing impact analysis stemming from data updates. Job expectations include helping in defining access and ownership of data by domain, conducting quality control, and overseeing data maintenance.

Specific Job Description

Qualified candidates must be able to manage a portfolio of work to meet objectives, and be self-directed, collaborative, analytical and proactive in execution and problem resolution. The Analyst is responsible for:

  • Managing a portfolio of BAU and Initiative project work specific to the enterprise's Authorized Data Source - serving many LOBs as well as critical risk & loss mitigation functions - engaging to ensure project scope, objectives, requirements, and deliverables are met

  • Identifying impacts on the organization, challenging and recommending solutions to problems being addressed, and guiding Initiative and BAU project teams to an optimal solution

  • Developing, maintaining, and reporting on an overall integrated delivery plan

  • Ensuring clearly defined responsibilities and accountabilities for key program/project roles

  • Engaging with business and technical stakeholders at varied levels to align on key objectives and providing advice to proactively highlight and mitigate risks

  • Coordinating subject matter expertise to drive delivery through a wide matrix-management environment

  • Developing an environment where all requests are executed with the proper level of data controls including, but not limited to, engagement with stakeholders to identify needs and implementation of a full suite of controls - DQ, DV, Recon, Trend, etc

Required Qualifications

  • 2 years of Business Analyst or similar experience. Work breakdown structure and identification of dependencies, optimization of task sequencing, coordination of multiple business and technology teams and activities, effective meeting facilitation, ability to influence, and assertiveness

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related field (or equivalent experience)

  • Ability to quickly develop additional subject matter expertise across a broad spectrum of issues and data domains

  • Must be able to manage concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment, adapt to changing requirements, manage multiple tasks, and work well under pressure

  • Excellent written communication skills with ability to target messaging to diverse audiences

  • Strong verbal communication skills for setting expectations and influencing teams to deliver

  • Highly organized with the ability to effectively multi-task and manage deliverables

  • Strong ability to establish relationships with peers across teams and influence/lead diverse groups to achieve desired results

  • Results oriented with demonstrated ability to drive action and sustain momentum

  • Intermediate skills with Excel, PowerPoint, Visio

  • Intermediate SQL skills

Desired Qualifications

  • 2 years of experience in a Finance, Front/Middle/Back Office, Trade Control, or Accounting role, and associated subject matter expertise - candidate will face off directly with many lines of businesses, reporting teams, technology, and operations

  • Wide ranging knowledge of financial markets, products, and regulations

  • Experience in leading large programs with both business and technology delivery components, designing technical solutions and driving business requirements

  • Experience with initiatives and/or deliverables related to Financial Data Management and Regulatory Reporting

  • Consulting or change management experience

  • Advanced SQL skills

  • Hands-on data and process analysis skills - ability to independently research problems, determine root causes and propose solutions
