Position Summary

The Senior Credit Risk Analyst is primarily responsible for development and maintenance of consumer credit/risk related reporting and analyses. The Analyst will be or become an expert in one or more key areas of Geographic Risk, Product Knowledge and Credit Bureau Attributes. The Analyst will also assist in activities related to the Allowance for Loan and Lease Losses ("ALLL"), inclusive of CECL implementation for consumer lending including Real Estate, Auto and other Consumer Lending products. Other ad hoc credit related projects may be assigned.

Major Areas of Accountability

A. Proforma and Early Estimate Support.

Partner with Business Unit FPA team:

  • Build and maintain credit related models to provide FPA team with credit related forecast guidance

  • Monitor results and provide variance commentary.

B. KRI/KPI, Concentration Monitoring and commentary

  • Monitor KRI/KPI activity and provide commentary for exceptions

  • Lead annual Concentration Reporting exercise

C. Develop analyses and become key subject area expert in one or more of three functional areas:

  • Geographic Risk Monitor geographies for economic and other significant events and provide reporting and forecasts.

  • Credit Bureau Monitor credit bureau reporting and provide trend and root cause analysis for trend shifts and provide forecasts.

  • Product Expert Monitor Industry trends, benchmark performance, work with BUs on new product assessments

D. ALLL

  • Support ALLL team where needed.

  • Learn processes and serve as backup to eliminate KPR.

E. Credit Reporting

  • Produce and maintain existing credit related reporting as assigned.

F. Other Analytics as Assigned

  • Produce high level analytical products as assigned related to Consumer Lending Credit.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

Education

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, mathematics, finance, economics or related field.

Preferred:

  • MBA
  • CPA

Work Experience/Skills:

Required:

  • A minimum of 4 years of analytical support and project management Credit/Finance/ALLL.

  • Experience and demonstrated expertise in SAS.

  • Excellent Excel, tableau, or other data analytics tools.

  • Experience as auditor or working with auditors and/or regulators.

  • Experience in change management.

  • Critical thinking and demonstrated thought leadership.

  • Strong decision-making skills, especially when dealing with competing interests.

  • Driven and self-directed yet collaborative in approach.

  • Ability to work in a matrixed environment.

  • Proven career track record of progression and success.

  • Strong business and technical acumen and ability.

  • Outstanding communication skills, both oral and written, and the ability to communicate clearly at all levels of the organization.

  • Strong ability to manage relationships and maintain objectivity.

Preferred:

  • Exposure to whole and retail lending platforms.

  • Prior portfolio management experience preferred: consumer: residential mortgage & indirect auto; commercial: specialty finance/ inventory floor planning, equipment finance and commercial banking (CRE & CI).

  • Deep understanding of current FASB regulations, fair value, purchase accounting methodology.

Oversee performance across the credit cycle (originations, portfolio management/performance, and collection effectiveness). Advise the Chief Risk Officer and other senior executives on risk management-related matters, focusing on proactive leadership using broad, strategic planning rather than day-to-day operational execution. Also represents firm with clients, external agencies, and industry and regulatory bodies. Major Areas of Accountability * Lead unsecured credit risk strategy, including the identification, measurement, and monitoring of credit losses across the Retail unsecured portfolios. * Oversight and performance responsibility across the credit cycle (originations, portfolio management/performance, and collection effectiveness). * Influence the lending strategy and customer journey by providing credit risk oversight and effective stakeholder management. * Provide proactive insights into trends, identify issues, and assess threats and opportunities across the portfolio. * Own credit policy and portfolio management. * Manage unsecured lending portfolio and continually optimize risk strategy and credit policy for acquisition. * Utilize statistical and segmentation tools to develop/optimize acquisition risk strategies for personal loan products. * Evaluate credit programs and peer groups to ensure that key performance indicators are identified, monitored and addressed, and recommend changes in credit policy and operations where needed. * Conduct analyses and forecasting for program recommendations.
