Zions Bancorporation is currently seeking a Senior Credit Examiner to join our Credit Examination Department. This position will be in either our Phoenix, AZ, or San Diego, CA office.

Lead examinations reviewing all types of commercial, commercial real estate, and energy loans for the purposes of identifying potential credit risk problems, minimizing loan losses, and ensuring conformity with corporate policy.
Identify credit and documentation risk, analyze detailed financial data, and quickly identify evolving repayment risk patterns.
Assess and finalize work products produced by assisting credit examiners to ensure quality of the credit risk process, accuracy of ratings assigned, as well as clarity, justification, and accuracy of conclusions.
Communicate conclusions to management through oral and written examination reports with appropriate recommendations for corrective actions when necessary.
Follow up to determine that approved recommendations are instituted and complied with.
Tests for compliance with company policies, procedures, and banking regulations.
Review credit files to determine financial sustainability, collateral and documentation accuracy, and proper monitoring of borrower requirements.
Analyze financial statements and spreads to determine the ability to repay debt.
Assess assigned risk grades for appropriateness.
Perform monthly or quarterly assessments of losses, risk grade changes, loan field approvals, and risk grade overrides.
Minimal travel required, up to 10 days annually.
Other duties as assigned.
An in-depth knowledge of credit risk, accounting, audit procedures, and legal and regulatory requirements.
Exhibit excellent communication skills verbally and through written documents.
Demonstrate ingenuity and creativity and effective decision making and problem-solving capabilities.
Ability to identify, analyze, and provide accurate conclusions and recommendations.
Exhibit excellent leadership and management skills and effectively work with and influence executive bank management.
Experience working with Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Requires a Bachelor's in Business, Finance or a related field. MBA preferred.
8 years' experience with credit analysis, lending (commercial, commercial real estate, SBA, energy), and audit processes and procedures or other directly related experience.
Portfolio management experience with a large bank is also beneficial.Bank regulator (commissioned) experience is preferred.
