The Sr. Course Content Developer is responsible for course content design and development of content that is part of Wiley's course offerings. This includes assessment, media such as videos and animations, student/instructor resources, and narrative text. They are responsible for developing and executing high quality assessments for Wiley's courseware products consistent with industry standards as it relates to teaching and learning content in Higher Education. This includes translating strategic goals into an actionable sourcing plan; managing the sourcing; executing the development of core content, course content and asset acquisition for assigned titles in a way that are consistent with project budgets, schedules and sales strategy. The Sr. Course Content Developer implements learning design principles set forth by Learning Science to optimize digital content flexibility. The Sr. Course Content Developer works with authors and vendors to identify and source SMEs for high quality assessment authoring, media development, and course development. The Sr. Course Content Developer is assigned complex projects that involve new learning designs, and evolving digital learning platforms. The Sr, course content developer is responsible for developing and executing on high quality assessment for Wiley's courseware products consistent with industry standards.

Subject matter expertise in Math and Statistics is desired. The preference is for the candidates to have experience with developing assessment content and online learning courses' core structure. Experience interacting with authors and editorial teams to develop online learning products is needed.

Above all, we are looking for a candidate who demonstrates an ability to identify courses' development issues and execute solutions via strong problem-solving skills.

How you will make an impact:

  • Plays an integral part on the publishing team, working with his/her Manager as well as the to develop products that give Wiley a competitive edge in our markets. Executes on developing content and works hand-in-hand with Content Production Specialist and Course Operations Manager to complete production of products in a timely and high-quality fashion.

  • Project, Schedule and Budget Management

  • Author/Vendor/SME Management

  • Manages the development of complex course materials (both print and digital: Assessment, PPTs, resources, media assets, video, text) that are of high quality, have potential to be market leading products in the markets in which they compete and add value to the product line

  • Works with manager to ensure budgets are aligned with work requested from vendors in regards to assessment, media, mapping documents, text development

  • Ensures authoring guidelines, templates are in place and identifies content gaps and SMEs as needed to fill in those gaps. Projects are managed effectively and delivered on time and within budget.

  • Ensures quality control by way of review of course demos and full courses, before they are released to the market

  • Ensures the implementation of authoring guidelines

  • Ensures the implementation of learning design guidelines

  • Manages authors/SMEs/Vendors to deliver as per Wiley's standards and the product specific needs

  • Ensure vendor partners execute in compliance with schedule, quality and business goals.

  • Optimization of vendor activities to ensure vendors can handle high volume while in-house staff focuses on high stakes activities and new workflows

We are looking for people who:

  • BA/BS degree or Instructional Design degree

  • Significant experience in publishing process and instructional design, course design and/or product development, and production for digital and print content

  • Must exhibit experience and skills in print and digital pedagogy, project management, market and subject matter knowledge

  • Experience with a range of print and media design and platform development

  • Track record of delivering numerical objectives against targets

  • Experience with a range of print and media product development.

  • Pedagogical knowledge and knowledge of visual and art design

  • Expertise in digital content and online course design and development.

  • Understanding of platforms upon which products and services operate

  • Understands/is able to use the different elements of product development (product specifications, technical review, market review, depth editing, design, art, etc.) to produce high quality/effective products

  • Understands the various components and timing of the production process: design, copy- editing, author review, composition, typesetting, proofing, indexing, printing, and binding

  • Critical thinker, proven ability to identify and act on opportunities and to solve problems.

  • Sets goals, and develops strategies and plans for meeting them

  • Is able to break down complex problems/tasks into manageable parts, and allocates own time efficiently

  • Processes paperwork and other information in a timely manner
