The Corporate Accountant is responsible for ensuring integrity of accounting functions and performing the day-to-day operations of the general ledger accounting activities for the organization. This position will work in partnership with key financial team members, in reviewing and preparing explanations of income statements and generating balance sheet variance analysis compared to budget/forecast.


  • Performs the day-to-day operations of the general ledger accounting activities including fixed assets, accounts payables/receivables, consolidation, audit, tax accounting and providing information to management for planning, decision making, budgeting and financial reporting.

  • Execute monthly close process including preparation and review of journal entries.

  • Participate in the monthly, quarterly and annual closing process.

  • Works with leadership to provide a broad base of guidance to the organization on accounting, finance, and controllership issues, ensuring operational accounting practices are in compliance with GAAP and Company Policies.

  • Completes account reconciliations. Reviews company account reconciliations for completeness/accuracy and manages designated accounting processes for financial closings.

  • Ensures detailed review, analysis, reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.

  • Analyzes and reports general ledger account fluctuations.

  • Helps prepare monthly reporting packages, including preparation of balance sheets, income and cash flow.

  • Liaises with finance/accounting teams in reviewing, preparing explanations of income statements, and generating variance analyses compared to budget/forecast.

  • Works with businesses and corporate personnel to ensure appropriate corporate accounting structure and intercompany accounting best practice arrangements are in place.

  • Maintains and works to enhance accounting policies, procedures and practices.

  • Recommends changes and improvements for accounting and reporting routines to ensure government/regulatory accounting compliance.


  • BS, BA, BBA Degree in Accounting or Finance. MS, MA, MBA Degree preferred

  • Minimum 8 years progressive accounting/financial management experience.

  • CPA and/or eligibility to acquire preferred.

  • Good knowledge of US GAAP and in depth understanding of internal accounting and documentation of internal controls.

  • Application and interpretation of GAAP to various transactions (i.e. acquisitions, divestitures, financing transactions, etc.), including ability to exercise judgment to reach conclusion when multiple outcomes possible.

  • Superior organizational and analytical skills with the ability to develop actionable recommendations.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to work with cross functional teams and present ideas effectively at all levels of the organization.

  • Financial/Accounting reporting, business planning, project management and creative thinking capabilities.

  • Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

  • Applied familiarity with financial/accounting/MIS software packages/systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, HFM, GMR).

  • Demonstrates effective job specific knowledge and motivation in a dynamic business environment and can operate and perform within a matrix organization.

  • Bilingual English/French

Frequent sitting and operating a computer. Fast paced atmosphere with multiple priorities and constant change. Some travel due to role.

The Corporate Acountant is responsible for key centralized corporate accounting functions at DistributionNOW ("DNOW") working for the Assistant Corporate Controller. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: * Maintain and update centralized lease database, ManagePath. Includes developing reports and reviewing contracts & other third-party support for real estate and equipment leases. * Update rent roll listing for DNOW LP to ensure accurate payments monthly. * Assist with preparing monthly journal entries for global leases. After advising, review and work with controllers to confirm entries are proper. * Oversee the internal facility request process and assist operations with identifying new and/or replacement properties (with the assistance of outside brokers). * Provide review and analysis of DNOW fringe benefit accounting entries. * Summarize key changes related to fringe benefits and develop projections for management. * Review corporate financials and address any inquiries as necessary. * Compute required pension accounting entries for defined benefit plans. * Research and implement appropriate U.S. GAAP guidance. * Assist with internal and external audit inquiries. * Review and analyze select balance sheet accounts. * Address required governmental reports as needed. * Any other tasks assigned or related to DNOW policies, controls, lease database, and real estate portfolio.
