Sr. Controls Engineer, Amer Controls

As part of the AWS Controls Team, you will work with highly motivated experts and innovators in the data center industry. You will be responsible for innovating, deploying, optimizing, and maintaining the automation systems within the data centers. Automation systems consist of building management system (BMS) and electrical power monitoring system (EPMS). Using Amazon leadership principles, you will develop new processes and standards while innovating in the controls space.

The ideal candidate will possess a project management, mechanical, electrical or technology background that enables them to undertake the challenges of sophisticated controls platforms and a demonstrated ability to think broadly and strategically in aligning building controls and automation with the larger objectives of the business. Key job responsibilities •\tManage scope of Building Management System (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring System (EPMS) for construction of AWS data centers •\tEnsure data center controls are deployed in accordance with AWS standards, specifications and scope of work (SOW) •\tReview and provide feedback on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) design drawings and basis of design (BOD) •\tDevelop project bill of material (BOM) and scope of work (SOW) •\tManage multiple stakeholder deliverables, requirements and navigate difficult situations •\tWork under tight project timelines •\tSupport and perform inspections, testing, and commissioning of controls systems •\tParticipate and support Factory Acceptance/Witness Testing activities (FAT/FWT) •\tFinancially manage both construction and service contracts •\tAct in a project sponsor/lead capacity •\tProvide vendor management •\tDevelop scope of work for site improvement projects •\tProvide technical assistance and support to internal customers during life cycle of the data center •\tPerform troubleshooting and root cause analysis for data centers control systems •\tManage all un/planned maintenance for data center control systems •\tLearn and help design teams develop sequence of operation for mechanical systems •\tParticipate in a global on-call schedule •\tGrow in technical ability by learning a multitude of different automation platforms •\tLearn and develop controls drawings and wiring diagrams •\tSize controls valves and damper actuators and select controls devices. •\tDevelop and modify control logic programming and graphical user interfaces •\tWork individually and as part of a team to develop new products, support existing products, test and evaluate equipment. •\tTravel domestically and internationally to support global AWS projects We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations: Herndon, VA, USA BASIC QUALIFICATIONS•\tB.S./B.A. degree in an engineering-based discipline or 10 years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience •\tSeven (7) years of experience in either design, programming, and/or startup/commissioning •\tSeven (7) years of experience in project management/lead role •\tExperience with controls in data centers or other critical facilities •\tExpert in common controls communication protocols (Modbus, BACnet, etc.) PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS•\tM.S. degree in an engineering-based discipline or 15 years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. •\tTen (10) years of experience in either design programming, or startup/commissioning. •\tTen (10) years of experience in project management. •\tExperience in designing, configuring, programming, installing, or servicing two or more of the following products:

Siemens, Honeywell, Schneider Electric, Rockwell Automation, Ignition, Tridium Niagara, Eaton, ABB, Johnson Controls, APC, or other •\tNetworking administration experience. •\tProject Management Professional (PMP) •\tWindows power user skill set including project management software. •\tMQTT communication protocol experience. •\tExperience managing capital projects ranging from $1M to $10M Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
