Overview / Responsibilities

ATC Group Services LLC is seeking experienced Sr.Construction Quality Assurance Inspector to work on our coal combustion residual (CCR) projects. Position would include quality assurance or quality control oversight of projects related to coal combustion residuals (CCR) ash ponds, landfills and solid waste facilities.

Job Location: Birmingham and/or Mobile, AL (or other ATC office locations in Alabama)

The Construction Quality Assurance Inspectors will work on coal combustion residual (CCR) projects throughout the US. Position would include quality assurance or quality control oversight of projects related to coal combustion residuals (CCR) ash ponds, landfills and solid waste facilities.

  • Under general supervision, perform field inspections, observations of construction activities to ensure compliance with project plans, permits, approved shop / working drawings, project documents and specifications in accordance with established procedures

  • Read and interpret construction documents including, but not limited to, drawings, specifications, standards, codes and shop drawings

  • Prepare and submit accurate, legible, comprehensive and complete inspection reports and / or testing records daily in accordance with established quality procedures

  • Perform analysis of data to verify accuracy before communication and submittal to the Supervisor

  • Document, track and communicate construction non - conformance

  • Under general supervision and direction, interact with clients and other site personnel and provide input on appropriate resolution of issues and findings

  • Coordinate pre - dispatch activities with Project, Department, and / or Office Managers

  • Performs all other duties, as assigned.

Key Accountabilities (inlcuding geographic spread, role, authority, etc)

  • Must have fundamental working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat

  • Desire to provide excellent practical client service and a commitment to technical excellence

  • Excellent client service abilities and ability to meet deliverables on time and on budget

  • Must have effective communication skills (speaking and writing), using the English language

Qualifications (education, experience and training)


  • High School Diploma or equivalent required

  • 5+ years' experience with construction materials testing and inspection on landfills and / or surface impoundments

  • 1-2 years' experience with the inspection of geosynthetics liner / cap installation for landfills and / or surface impoundments and successfully completed no less than five projects totaling not less than one million square feet of geosynthetic installation

  • Fundamental working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat

  • Ability to travel to multiple locations, both in and out of state.

  • Ability to work in office and field setting

  • Valid Driver's License


  • Environmental regulatory knowledge (with a basic understanding of waste and remediation concepts and regulations)
  • Experience working with regulatory agencies in interactions and/or negotiations

Technical / business skills, certifications, licenses and/or registrations


  • Relevant field - testing certifications (ICC, NICET, ACI, etc.) and experience with materials laboratory testing (i.e. soils and concrete)
  • Geosynthetics QA / QC training and certification (GSI GCI - ICP) is required


  • HAZWOPER certification with the 40hour HAZWOPER environmental ,health and Safety
