About the team and the role:

The Core Technology (CT) team forms the backbone of eBay's technology platform. Our platform is the foundation that powers the entire infrastructure and the multitude of services that coalesce to build the eBay experience. The Computer Vision team at eBay Core AI is at the forefront of crafting new product experiences by developing capabilities that are integral to eBay's mission. eBay's strategic vision is to become the best global marketplace for buyers and sellers through a tech-led reimagination of the company.

We are looking for a Senior Applied Researcher with a deep expertise in visual foundational models and VLMs to improve our computer vision capabilities. The ideal candidate will be adept at developing innovative solutions and advancing the state-of-the-art in computer vision technologies, contributing to eBay's dedication to providing outstanding product experiences.

What you will accomplish:

  • MS or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, or a related technical field with a minimum of 8 years of relevant industrial experience.

  • Proficiency in programming with Python and C/C++.

  • Hands-on experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow.

  • Proven track record of building prototype applications for computer vision tasks.

  • Robust knowledge of computer vision (CV) and machine learning (ML) principles.

  • Prior experience in search technologies and e-commerce platforms is highly desirable.

  • Develop and refine deep learning models to tackle new challenges and improve the performance of existing large-scale computer vision systems, with a focus on product understanding.

  • Stay abreast of the latest research in computer vision and machine learning, and apply this knowledge to drive innovation within eBay's CV capabilities.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment in California, Washington, or New York is expected in the range below.

$135,200 - $205,700

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employees will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
