Scope of Responsibilities/Expectations:
Empowered to represent senior management for most day-to-day business decisions, the Senior Competitive Intelligence Business Manager brings a balanced view toward growing top-line growth and market share while managing margin, profitability, and contractual, financial, product, and other risks.
The Senior Competitive Intelligence (CI) Business Manager is responsible for establishing and understanding competitive strategies, tactics, price points, and overall business intelligence in the public safety software enterprise market. The Manager primarily works on competitive opportunities, providing insight to project teams on competitive strengths, weaknesses, projected bid strategies, and pricing. They also determine pricing guidance for sales management, distribution, product and business development organizations on competitive strategies. Product and solution families represented include: Broadband systems, CAD, Video, Body Worn Camera, NG911, System Integration, and Managed Lifecycle Services.
Key areas of focus for Senior CI Business Manager include:
Determines offer pricing for North America Software Enterprise business unit
Analyzing competitive bid strategies
Summarizing competitive information for internal work partners
Predicting competitor bid response strategies and associated pricing
Understanding and summarizing advantages and disadvantages of Motorola offerings vs. competitors
Advising business teams (Product Group, Strategy organization, etc) of competitive threats
Communicating regularly with distribution teams (Field Sales, Service, Systems Integration), Senior Leadership on competitive sales tactics, and global CI partners
Data Gathering, Maintenance, and Analysis (market share trends, competitive bidding trends, win/loss trends, etc.)
Business or Engineering Bachelor degree, MBA preferred
Familiarity with Public Safety portfolio: Broadband systems, NG911, Video, System Integration, CAD/Records, Smart Public Safety, or Managed Services.
Familiarity with system costing from an project management, service approach AND engineering perspective.
Creative and strategic mindset
Proficient with business intelligence Qualitative and Quantitative analytics, SWOT analysis, Monte Carlo
Wireless communication industry experience attained in the State & Local, Federal, or Enterprise markets
Must have professional experience with Competitive RFP procurements
Excellent time management skills. Ability to prioritize multiple large projects simultaneously.
Excellent communication skills: - Ability to articulate contrarian concepts & strategies clearly and concisely to senior managers via: oral/presentations, over the phone, in front of large groups, briefings, concise and effective business/technical summaries.
