The Senior Compensation Analyst will be responsible for assisting with the development and implementation of compensation programs for the organization. He/she will conduct market analysis to research trends and compensation initiatives in the energy sector and provide recommendations/solutions as well as administrator systems that support these programs. The position reports directly to the Director Compensation and Benefits.


  • Participant in both formal and informal compensation surveys, and analyze data from survey sources to determine competitiveness both internally and externally.

  • Research and assess market prevalence and trends regarding variable pay program designs and targets.

  • Assist in preparation of annual salary increase and incentive programs.

  • Work closely with Managers/Supervisors to develop job specifications insuring consistency with other jobs in the same band and family progressions. Market price new jobs utilizing salary surveys or slotting.

  • Provide analytical support regarding ad hoc research and other related compensation projects as identified by management.

  • Demonstrate understanding of the requirements/data elements to create reports which streamline and support compensation programs.

  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for internal controls.

  • Advise management and staff regarding compensation practices, policy interpretation, issue resolution, and compliance.

  • Provide system administration supporting the compensation programs, which include: Job Codes, Salary Ranges, and Targets (UltiPro), Long Term Incentive (Solium/Shareworks), and Market Data (

  • Some travel may be necessary



  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

  • In-depth systems background working in Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), and Long Term Incentive.

  • Highly proficient in MS Excel and familiar using MS Access.

  • Familiar with Cognos reporting tool.

  • Ability to handle multiple projects and/or assignments concurrently.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong initiative with the ability to work independently.


  • A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance or a related field; other degrees will be considered, depending on work experience. Industry certifications preferred.

  • Five (5) or more years' previous experience in a similar capacity and knowledge of long term incentive programs is highly preferred. Prior work experience in the energy sector is desired, but not required.

The Senior Compensation Analyst will be heavily involved in the design, development and implementation of compensation programs including base pay, salary administration, job descriptions and evaluations and salary/market pricing analyses. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Work collaboratively with business units to develop and implement competitive pay structures. * Conduct ongoing market and trend analysis of compensation programs to ensure consistent and equitable administration of compensation plans, and recommend changes to program designs as needed. * Provide compensation analysis, data modeling, forecasts, reports, and presentations as needed senior management and internal partners, and provide recommendations for compensation programs. * Provide advice to business leaders and HR Partners on compensation related issues based upon policy, internal equity and market data. * Maintain data for all job documentation, job descriptions and databases related to job structures and job families. * Develop and prepare employee compensation communications, materials and managerial guides for the implementation of various compensation projects. * Assist in compiling global market data as part of the annual merit and pay structure evaluation process to recommend individual and structural increases. * Maintain internal compensation system to be utilized throughout the year on various compensation activities. * Identifies compensation processes and is a critical part of the development of salary administration guidelines and compensation procedures. Reviews salary recommendations for bona fide promotions, band promotions and level movements. * Coordinates the administration of and assists in plan design of short-term and long-term incentives. Serve the Global groups as process leader for the implementation, administration and distribution of annual incentives. * Works closely with HRIS Implementation team for all compensation related matters. Ensure accuracy of salary data in HRIS system. * Maintains and run periodic as well as ad-hoc reports on compensation related data from the HRIS system. Conduct periodic audits to ensure accuracy of data. Respond to data requests; use Excel and or Access to manipulate data for analysis. * Coordinates participation in annual salary surveys; evaluate market data to ensure the competitiveness of total compensation structures. * Model and forecast cost of equity programs * Provide support and contribute to the development of the Compensation Discussion & Analysis section of the annual proxy report * Serve as a point of contact for administration service providers (for LTIP, compensation software, etc.) Minimum Qualifications: * 5+ years of experience in compensation administration, including salary analysis, job evaluation, and salary management * Oilfield Services Industry experience is strongly preferred * International compensation experience a plus * HR Generalist or similar field experience in Oilfield Services a plus * Experience with international compensation market drivers a plus. (i.e. currency fluctuations (inflation / devaluation), labor relations & unions, low vs. high cost labor markets, etc.) * Excellent written and verbal communication abilities * High level of proficiency in MS Excel, as well as other MS Office applications * Experience with MarketPay / PayScales or other software analytical tool * Strong analytical and data analysis abilities * Ability to protect confidential information * CCP certification preferred * Ability to influence and converse across many cultures and at multiple levels. * Ability to influence without direct authority (i.e. influence & align outcomes across business units, geographies, and all levels of the organization.)
