The Sr. Global Commodity Manager develops and executes commodity strategies consistent with quality, delivery and cost objectives.

This position can be based onsite in either Chaska, MN or Miami FL.

Assigned Commodities include, but are not limited to: Computers, peripherals, software, optics, lasers, bar code scanners, OEM hardware.

Key Responsibilities/ Summary:

  • Provides insightful information on industry trends for assigned commodities that may affect quality, cost, availability and/or risk.

  • Leads a global, multi-site commodity team effort to manage risk, improve services, processes, reduce costs and/or leverage company assets.

  • Manages key and high-risk suppliers to ensure continuous flow of materials and minimize company liability.

  • Drives global sourcing strategy and related KPI's to deliver best total cost of ownership to worldwide manufacturing sites.

  • Independently develops and executes sourcing workshops at or across manufacturing sites

  • May lead a team in contract negotiations with key suppliers.

  • May act as a liaison with business units in high visibility projects.

  • Is responsible for global sourcing and supply base management of >$100m in Key Technologies components with a focus on quality, supply continuity, service and best total cost.

  • Leads supplier negotiations and contract development and management with team members to obtain Quality, Delivery and Cost objectives

  • Interacts with internal and external stake holders

  • Builds strategic partnerships across company including site operations, procurement, quality, commercial operations, and Danaher Corporate Procurement. Leverages effective working relationships to improve YOY performance objectives.

  • Adheres to policies and procedures

  • Reports to Director, Corporate Strategic procurement.

Job Requirements



  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in international manufacturing/supply chain sourcing

  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience managing direct staff.

  • Strong track record of high-level negotiations and contract development/execution.

  • Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills.

  • Intermediate to advanced competency in MS Excel, Powerpoint, and Word

  • Ability to interact and influence at all levels of organization

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25%

  • Engineering/technical background strongly desired

Educational requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in field with 14+ years experience OR Master's degree in field with 12+ years experience OR Doctoral degree in field with 9+ years experience

The Senior Market IT Manager, in conjunction with the Market IT Manager, is responsible for assisting property management with technology planning, implementation, and maintenance. The Senior Market IT Manager will direct the work of Market IT Managers or IT Technicians and interfaces with vendors, owners, executive committee and property staff. The Senior Market IT Manager is typically assigned to moderate to highly complex properties depending on level of experience. CANDIDATE PROFILE Education and Experience * BS/BA or equivalent work experience; additionally 2-4 years' experience in like Information Technology position. * Previous experience supporting highly complex units (e.g., resorts, enhanced GPNS systems, high number of network devices, etc.). * Previous experience in Americas IT or Marriott HQ IT Support desirable. * System-related professional certifications desired. CORE WORK ACTIVITIES Meeting Client Technology Needs * Manages technology/asset life-cycle. Confirms that necessary equipment (PCs, servers, telecom, etc.) is ordered and available. * Foresees, identifies and resolves system(s)' performance problems. * Oversees disaster recovery and business continuity as it relates to technology. * Confirms that technology assets are secure and well-maintained in accordance with Marriott International policies and standards. * Installs, monitors, and maintains telecommunications equipment including cabling and providing technical guidance as needed. * Performs adds/moves/changes/deletions. * Confirms that adequate bandwidth exists and that circuits are secured. * Supports end-use pager cellular phone issues. * Troubleshoots high-speed Internet access problems. * Escalates problems as appropriate through Area IT Manager, Americas IT, HQ IT departments. * Images desktops, installs new software applications, applies patches, maps drives to correct server/network. * Moves/adds/changes PCs/peripherals; migrating data when necessary. * Performs routine to complex desktop backup as scheduled or directed. * Provides end-user support to property staff, business center. * Resolves issues with setup or reset of security passwords. * Supports email and use of MI network. * Creates and maintains secure server environment. Performs server backups and routine/non-routine preventative maintenance. * Executes disaster recovery plans. Supporting On-Property Projects and Global Initiatives * Provides IT expertise and knowledge on projects impacting assigned properties. May lead a small project team. * Reviews solutions and processes developed by vendors engaged on the project. * Supports communications for all new applications/system installations and problem resolution.
