This is an exciting position within the Cloud Engineering Team of Moody's Ratings. Reporting up to Moody's AVP, the Infrastructure Tech organization leads all aspects of the company's global engineering of Moody's Ratings business system service delivery and solutions, end user application and delivery of hosted application, environment management and production support services. We are a growing organization of and perspectives.

We support over 200 business critical custom-built applications operating from 5 key private cloud data centers along with public cloud facilities and offer Infrastructure-as-a-Service and Platform-as-a-Service cloud-based architectures.

The Cloud Engineering team comprising of dedicated engineering and design professionals from diverse backgrounds, experiences are entrusted to design, manage, and maintain cloud infrastructure adhering to the engineering standards and best practices for cloud, database, middleware and platform technologies. The duties also include following best practices and ensuring the security of the network. A Cloud Engineer has multiple roles and needs to have a well-rounded knowledge of software development, scripting languages, and a background in designing web services in the cloud. Below are some of the responsibilities of a Cloud Engineer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, Develop and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) scripts using HashiCorp's Terraform. These scripts are used to automate the creation, management, and deletion of cloud resources.

  • Implement and maintain AWS and Azure cloud solutions, including virtual machines, app services, functions and other services.

  • Create and manage patterns and pipelines. These pipelines automate the process of integrating changes from multiple developers and deploying the application to production.

  • Test the infrastructure code to ensure it works as expected and adheres to best practices. This could involve unit testing, integration testing, and performance testing.

  • Ensure the security, scalability, and reliability of the cloud infrastructure by implementing best practices and following well-architected framework.

  • Collaborate with software developers to ensure that cloud resources are appropriately provisioned and managed for application deployment.

  • Monitor and troubleshoot cloud environments and applications, identifying performance issues and driving improvements.

  • Maintain documentation of the cloud architecture and related processes.

  • Effective use of communication and engagement to manage external vendors in the delivery of services.

Good to Have:

  • Manage & maintain the configuration of all CI/CD pipelines (Groovy & yaml).

  • Be responsible for the planning, implementation, and growth of the DevOps infrastructure.

  • Administrative Working Experience using DevOps tools in an AWS cloud environment (AWS), Docker / Kaniko, GitHub / Bitbucket, Jenkins & Kubernetes.

  • Manage the continuous integration and deployment infrastructure hosted on-prem & AWS cloud.

  • Work alongside architecture and engineering teams to design and implement any scalable services.

  • Understanding on quality & security gates enforcement for all applications onboarded to the environment.

  • Effective use of the Change Management process.

  • Quality and effectiveness of the delivery of projects through the use of key performance indicators.

  • Stay current with new technology options and vendor products, evaluating which ones would be a good fit for the company.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field is typically required.

  • 6+ years of experience in IT, particularly in roles related to Azure and Terraform in a professional setting.

  • 6+ years of Experience implementing IaC concepts using Terraform, Chef, Puppet.

  • Expert knowledge and architectural proficiency on Azure public cloud platform

  • A strong understanding of cloud concepts, particularly those related to Microsoft Azure, is crucial. This includes knowledge of Azure Resource Manager, Virtual Networks, Azure Functions, Azure Monitor, and other Azure services.

  • Should be well-versed in DevOps practices, including continuous integration, continuous delivery (CI/CD), infrastructure automation, and configuration management.

  • Understanding of CI/CD principles and experience with CI/CD tools like Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD.

  • Certifications like Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate or HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate can be advantageous.

  • Ability to analyze problems and develop solutions is important. This might involve troubleshooting technical issues or analyzing performance data.

  • Good communication skills are important, as the role will likely involve interacting with various teams and stakeholders.

  • The ability to manage tasks effectively, prioritize work, and meet deadlines is crucial in this role.

  • Willingness to learn new technologies and processes is often more important than existing technical skills.

For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is [[$112,000]] - [[$162,550]], depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation.
