About this role:
The Sr. Clinical External Communications Specialist is responsible for the research, analysis, and preparation of content and materials and documents that support the presentation needs of the Global Chief Medical Officer (CMO), across BSC's therapeutic areas and/or products. As part of the Clinical Training and Communications team, this role supports the scientific and medical communication needs of BSC's CMO clinical science programs.
Your responsibilities will include:
The Sr. Clinical External Communications Specialist is responsible for researching and preparing clinical content across therapeutic and product areas required for medical, scientific and other industry-related conference and symposia presentations and external affairs including commercial presentations and customer visits.
Conduct research, analyze and prepare clinical content to white space, emerging and scientifically relevant topics and post hoc analyses which answer key clinical questions that impact the field globally.
Liaison with corporate communications to ensure the successful facilitation of internal as well as external BSC Leadership level corporate communications and campaign efforts that could include media interviews, article development, internal videos. May contribute to strategic thought leadership and publication plans externally.
Collaborate with Medical Affairs and Clinical Trial Managers as well as other internal stakeholders to ensure data from BSC medical device clinical trials and registries is appropriately represented and presented across CMO platforms. Partner with stakeholders to incorporate current and appropriate external medical data into CMO
Acts as central point of contact for conference organizers, meeting requestors and external organizations in order to prepare the CMO and guide the creation of content for those engagements.
Actively researches and reads relevant manuscripts and other relevant clinical publications that enable being current on our key products and therapies, including maintaining knowledge of the competitive landscape. Remains current with medical developments and publications on similar and competitor products. Applies this knowledge to BSC communications projects.
Manage the CMO calendar of events in partnership with CMO Executive Administrator and Medical Affairs in order to determine participation requirements and schedule the necessary preparation activities and ultimately deliver an accurate, high-quality document that is prepared on schedule.
Responsible for leading and organizing preparation activities and meetings needed for the development of content including intake calls with stakeholders, review meetings with content owners and CMO for guidance and input into the final content output.
Assists with any and all other CMO content development needs as requested.
Provides informal coaching and mentors other team members.
What we're looking for in you:
Master degree with 6+ years of relevant experience or Bachelor degree with 8+ years of relevant experience (e.g., medical writing/clinical trials/epidemiology/medical device or drug safety/RN)
Ability to write independently with minimal input and produce clean final product
Ability to analyze, interpret, and summarize scientific data
Knowledge of clinical research methodology, tools, processes and regulations
Proven ability to manage timelines
Ability to interact with physicians and work cross functionally with Regulatory, R&D, Quality, Marketing
Computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe, EndNote)
Medical device experience
Ability to understand medical terminology, procedures, anatomy
