The Client Manager is responsible for key strategic client relationships by ensuring overall client satisfaction, retention, account growth and profitability. This position ensures client and Optum compliance with all contractual agreements, deliverables and timelines. Client Service Managers act as the ultimate advocate for clients within Optum.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage client contracts:

  • Ensure contract compliance

  • Conduct contract negotiations with client as necessary

  • Obtain legal review of contracts as needed

  • Ensure resulting contract is within established Optum business standards

  • Ensure accuracy of invoicing and expenditures

  • Provide project management services at the request of clients. Typical projects include:

  • Complex data analysis

  • Adhoc data compilation different than datasets currently offered

  • Collaborate with the client to adjust protocols and promotional efforts

  • Develop/conduct educational promotion, and strategic presentations as requested by clients

  • Implement new services or enhancements

  • Create year-end or other reports as requested by clients

  • Lead and manage all aspects of the contract installation process by:

  • Working with the Implementation Team to develop and execute business plans for deliverables

  • Assigning and submitting requirement documents to appropriate functional areas

  • Ensuring all tasks and timelines are being met or exceeded

  • Develop and monitor the process and completion of deliverables to assure fulfillment of contractual commitments

  • Initiate and manage completion of Service Requests for enhancements:

  • Participate in feasibility assessment, scoping, and pricing of requests and/or add-on sales

  • Ensure that pricing, timelines and quality expectations are met and/or exceeded

  • Work collaboratively with all levels of Optum staff to ensure the best outcome for the client

  • Communicate price, timeline and pertinent decisions to client and negotiate final outcome

  • Monitor and generate revenue growth

  • Maximize revenue by informing clients of new products and services available for purchase as add-ons to existing contracts

  • Develop and monitor revenue and utilization projections

  • Some travel required to attend client meetings, health fairs, and team trainings. Great sales are the result of strong purpose, conviction and pride - pride in your ability and your product

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED or higher

  • 2 years of experience in managing client relationships or project management.

  • 1 year of working experience with Microsoft Tools: Word (creating memos, writing), Outlook (setting calendar appointments, email) and Excel (creating spreadsheets, filtering, navigating reports)

  • Ability to multi-task and to understand multiple products and multiple levels of benefits within each product

  • Ability to work Monday - Friday and hours vary based on location of candidate (8 hours/day)

  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time for trainings, meetings, and conferences

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher

  • General knowledge of SalesForce

  • Healthcare background highly preferred, but not required

  • Project management and negotiation skills

Soft Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to quickly build rapport and respond to members in a compassionate manner by identifying and exceeding member expectations (responding in respectful, timely manner, consistently meeting commitments)

  • Demonstrated ability to listen skillfully, collect relevant information, determine immediate requests and identify the current and future needs of the member

  • Flexibility to customize approach to meet all types of member communication styles and personalities

  • Proficient conflict management skills to include ability to resolve issues in a stressful situation and demonstrating personal resilience

  • Excellent group facilitation, teamwork, organizational and computer skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Strong background in contract negotiations, budget management and customer service
