The University of Miami Health System, "UHealth", Department of Pediatrics- B-2 Early Education Program at the Debbie School has an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Classroom Assistant. The Sr. Classroom Assistant assist the classroom teacher in an inclusion classroom for young children with special needs, completing assigned responsibilities for instruction, planning, organization, activity implementation, evaluation, childcare, and record maintenance.

• Assists the teacher with disciplining children and recommends or initiates other measures to control behavior, such as picking up toys and books.

• Assists with classroom and group activities.

• Participates in development of curriculum and related materials used in the classroom.

• Supports children's emotional and social development and encourages understanding of others and positive self-concepts.

• Identifies signs of emotional or developmental problems in children.

• Maintains a safe and stimulating classroom.

• Sanitizes toys, equipment, and materials.

• Attends and participates in in-service training activities.

• Participates in classroom meetings and contributes relevant information.

• Participates in applied research and curricula task force programs.

• Cooperates with classroom teachers and other assistants.

• Supervises student trainees and volunteers in the classroom.

• Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Certification in relevant specialty or field

• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.

• Ability to work 12-month school year.

• Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.

• Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.

• Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.

• Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.

• Commitment to the University's core values.

• Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.
