This position will join our large loss team handling complex injury and litigation claims.

Responsibilities

  • Handles claims in accordance with Esurance's Claims Best Practices, Litigation Management Protocols, and state laws and regulations.

  • Applies expertise in the handling and resolution of automobile and homeowners liability claims to include recognizing exposures, setting appropriate reserves, interpreting policies and analyzing coverage, determining liability, reviewing medical records, bills and other documentation, evaluation, and negotiation.

  • Utilizes appropriate tools to assist with claim evaluations.

  • Presents cases and makes recommendations for authority to management

  • Manages litigated claims by developing litigation plans, strategies, and directing defense counsel throughout the litigation process.

  • Makes appropriate material damage assignments and handles initial rental assignments including handling repair and/or rental questions from the customer.

  • Identifies and refers claims for subrogation.

  • Makes appropriate referrals to SIU.

  • Attends arbitrations and/or settlement conferences, as needed.

Qualifications

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational, negotiation, influential, and customer service skills.

  • Able to work well under deadlines in a changing environment and perform multiple tasks effectively and concurrently.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage relationships with both internal and external customers.

  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written with strong presentation skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Demonstrated knowledge with MS Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and claims related software applications.

  • Superior knowledge of medical treatments and understanding of the relationship between vehicle impact and claimed injuries.

  • Demonstrated ability to handle complex claims involving issues of coverage, liability and significant injuries.

  • Ability to recognize and negotiate liens

  • Possesses or has the ability to obtain and maintain adjuster licenses in required states

Experience / Education:

  • Bachelor's degree with five years claims adjusting experience of increasing complexity required.

  • Alternatively, Associate's degree with seven years claims adjusting experience of increasing complexity required.

You will be working with scientists, attorneys, patent agents, and staff across a dynamic & diverse global organization pushing the boundaries of what is possible in a highly competitive industry. This position will be located in our South San Francisco campus and will report to the lead of our Biosimilars, Manufacturing & Litigation Readiness team.
