Job Summary:

This position will be responsible for the resolution of claims involving Products and Life Sciences risks. The position will have increased responsibility for decision making within their authority and work with minimal oversight.

Job Description

  • Experience handling Product Liability claims and Life Sciences exposures is strongly preferred.

  • Experience analyzing complex coverage issues for Product Liability claims is required.

  • Analyzes coverage and communicates coverage positions.

  • Conducts, coordinates, and directs investigation into loss facts and extent of damages

  • Directs and monitors assignments to experts and outside counsel

  • Evaluates information on coverage, liability, and damages to determine the extent of insured's exposure

  • Sets reserves within authority or makes claim recommendations concerning reserve changes to manager

  • Negotiates and settles claims either directly or indirectly

  • Prepares reports by collecting and summarizing information

  • Adheres to Fair Claims Practices regulations

  • Participates in special projects or assists other team members as requested

  • Travel to mediations, trials, and conferences as required

Department: AK0100AC1 EHS Audit Function: Environmental, Health & SafetyJob Summary: The Senior Corporate EHS Auditor is responsible for conducting EHS audits with a focus on process safety at all of our CF owned Locations and Joint Ventures. This position requires an individual that is self-motivated with a good working knowledge of risk management principles, chemical processes as well as process safety policies and programs. Job Description: Functional: * Develops, plans and then leads the process safety audits based on regulatory and company requirements as well as risks inherent to the specific business unit being audited following our CF risk prioritization methodology * Updates and manages site-specific process safety audit protocols through research and familiarity with the facility's EHS programs and Corporate standards as well as changes in jurisdiction regulatory requirements * Assists in performing other types of on-site audits at CF facilities such as environmental, health and safety, security and transportation * Identifies, documents and communicates Location EHS Best Practices that can be shared with other CF Locations Leadership, Communication & Development: * Develops effective communication and collaboration with the Corporate EHS team and all levels of management and personnel on process safety related items. * Develops process safety knowledge and auditing skills by attending formal training at approved facilities outside the company and continuous on the job training with the goal of becoming a process safety subject matter expert within CF. * Develops and mentors junior staff and guest audit team members on the CF audit process * Proactively interacts with functions outside of EHS to gather information and make recommendations for audit process improvements EHS Team: * Actively participates and engages as a member of the Corporate EHS team, collaborates and contributes to their overall success. Internal Controls: Understands and complies with established departmental processes and procedures designed to support internal control efforts. Identifies and brings to the attention of department management internal control deficiencies. Successful incumbents will have: * Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering strongly preferred * CPEA in Process Safety preferred or ability to obtain the certification within one year of hire date * Lean SixSigma Green Belt Certification preferred or experience in similar process improvement methodologies * Minimum of 5 years of overall experience in the nitrogen fertilizer or chemical industry with an understanding of key processes and risks with a minimum of 2 years of auditing (both compliance and management systems) experience * Experience in implementing Risk Based Process Safety (RBPS) * A thorough understanding of IIA and generally accepted auditing standards and common audit procedures and techniques. * Attention to detail is a must * Demonstrated willingness to quickly understand new concepts with a commitment to process safety (attended process safety courses, GCPS etc.) and desire to obtain additional professional certifications (CCPSC) * Time management and organizational skills; including the ability to prioritize and effectively manage multiple tasks within specified timelines * Able to summarize numerous concepts in a concise manner that makes sense * Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly and in an organized manner with competing demands and minimal supervision * Able to represent the Corporate EHS Audit Team in a professional manner by displaying professionalism, dependability, integrity and trustworthiness combined with a cooperative attitude * Ability to focus on tasks that are required to reach determined goals * Ability to communicate in writing clearly and concisely * Ability to work at a sustained pace and produce quality work * Ability to start tasks with minimal direction and to ask questions when necessary to continue work * Excellent verbal communication and technical writing skills to discuss work product findings, and can summarize complex concepts in a concise manner with all levels of management and facility personnel * Proven ability to read and follow Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) * Demonstrated proficiency and technically capable in MS Office Suite * Ability to travel and obtain the required work documentation for Canada, the United Kingdom and Trinidad * Physical ability to climb ladders and function within a chemical plant environment Position Scope/Contribution: This position provides a unique opportunity to have an impact on the overall company by identifying key areas for process safety improvements and thus help CF become a world-class leader in process safety performance. This position provides independent verification of facilities' compliance with CF Company policies, industry standards and governmental regulations with respect to process safety and general environmental, health and safety matters and serves to alert management to deficiencies. In addition, this position will allow the successful candidate to travel to all the CF facilities and work with personnel at all levels of the company within EHS as well as engineering and other technical functions of the company.
