Sr Catering Assistant - Texas Medical Center

The Sr Catering Assistant at MD Anderson Cancer Center in the Texas Medical Center provides service in the preparation, set-up and clean-up of catered events, including food & beverage preparation, food presentation & food handling, product purchasing & inventory management, venue setup, traveling and event monitoring.

The ideal candidate will have at least three years of catering experience and a valid Texas driver's license.

The hours for this position will vary between 6am to 7:30pm, with weekend shifts required depending on business needs.

Hourly breakdown of salary range:

Minimum $17.00 - Midpoint $21.00 - Maximum $25.00

JOB SPECIFIC COMPENTENCIES:

Customer Service:

Assists customers and dispenses products by following established policies and procedures. Solicits feedback from customers whenever possible, and reports to supervisor. Assists Catering Manager and/or Catering Supervisor in customer rounding and checks in with organizer of event to ensure all needs and requests are taken care of. Ensures event sheets are signed off by catering organizer or their delegate and returns forms to Catering Manager and/or Catering Supervisor.

Inventory Management:

Delivers/stores equipment, groceries and supplies as directed. Checks and replenishes items needed for Catering. Must be able to follow both written and oral instructions and reconcile order sheets with products received. Should be able to place food, supply, linen and beverage orders and maintain appropriate par levels during the absence of the Catering Manager and/or Catering Supervisor.

Productivity:

Sets up assigned work area and monitors activities as necessary. Sets up for the next day's activities when applicable, and serves all Catering customers. Assists Catering Manager and/or Catering Supervisor in cleanliness and organization of campus wide Catering galley's and fleet of Catering vehicles.

May be moved to new locations and/or shifts as operations dictate. Cross training may also involve shift changes.

EXPERIENCE:

Required: Three years of catering experience in a large scale operation.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:

Required: Valid Class A, B or C Texas driver's license and eligible to drive State and institutional vehicles.
