The purpose of this role is twofold:

  • Leads the development (and support the execution) of category strategies across dry goods categories.

  • Leads the development and maintenance of a structured, positive and productive relationship with stakeholders.


  • Supports the Director Procurement Americas & GM Supply Chain in annually refreshing the Vision, Mission and Strategic Objectives of the Procurement function


  • Proactively contributes to a positive, energetic and enjoyable team culture

  • Role models commitment to the TWE's vision, strategies and desired culture

  • Leads or supports the completion of a bi-annual culture review

Development and Training

  • Implements a structured, positive routine to provide performance and developmental feedback to team members

  • Identifies and supports the delivery of training that seeks to uplift functional capabilities including, but not limited:

  • Business partnering

  • Category strategy development

  • Sourcing process execution.

Business Partnering

  • Develops and implements a structured Customer Relationship Management (CRM) plan that clearly defines stakeholder engagement objectives and routines.

  • The CRM should include both internal (CRM) and external (SRM) stakeholders as well as the ownership/involvement of direct reports

  • Contributes to the execution of an annual net promotor survey and outcomes review

Category Strategies

  • Leads the development, in collaboration with Production stakeholders, of both short and long-term (3-5) year category strategies

  • Leads and/or supports the conversion of initiatives identified in the category strategy into structured into detailed business plans that include identified value, detailed timeline and risk assessment etc.

  • Where possible, a project management platform should be used (and be consistent across teams)

  • Oversees the delivery of all category initiatives through a structured Project Management Office (PMO)

Category Management

  • Oversees the efficient and effective performance of contract management by direct reports

Supplier Performance Management

  • Oversees the efficient and effective performance of supplier performance management by direct reports


  • Leads the identification of category specific risks/ contractual risks (and associated controls) through the development of category strategies and communicate as appropriate

  • Support the identification of process risks (and associated controls)

Process Performance and Governance

  • Contributes to and support initiatives led or facilitated by the Specialist, Process Performance and Governance


  • Bachelor's degree required

  • 10+ years of work experience

  • Experience in developing and leading high performing teams

  • Superior experience in developing stakeholder relationships

  • Superior project management skills

  • Strong commercial and business acumen experienced in contract negotiation and management

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills

  • Strong computer literacy in software applications, MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel required

  • Strong organisational and time management skills with careful attention to detail

Responsibilities to also include strategy development/execution, negotiation, and management of contracts and supplier relationships for assigned indirect material and capital categories which may include plant operating materials, wine making supplies, and viticulture. The Procurement Associate Category Manager will also be responsible for managing the vendor selection process, socializing strategies with key stakeholders, negotiating cost, and monitor compliance. Other key responsibilities to include holding suppliers accountable for performance and continuous improvement including lead-time reduction, inventory management, driving working capital benefits, and where appropriate, utilizing supplier scorecards to monitor and improve overall performance. You will need to be commercially strong with excellent interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills. The ideal candidate will need to possess a can-do attitude, be self-motivated, and be able to influence at all levels. Multi-tasking experience, organization and the flexibility to address immediate priorities while managing deadlines will be critical for success. You will need to be able to see the "bigger picture" so that longer-term and strategic initiatives can be executed while also being able to pay attention to the details and maintain a high degree of accuracy. Responsibilities Category Strategies * Assist in developing and leading the discussion in gaining cross function alignment and then executing category strategies for the named commodities which underpin the wider business strategy. * Plan and execute negotiations for both formal tenders and ad-hoc activities. * Leverage the growing business volumes and strong market share to deliver competitive advantage in our Inbound Supply Chain. * Engage suppliers to identify new and innovative solutions and cost savings initiatives. Supplier Performance Management * Monitor and drive supplier performance in assigned categories. * Work with other Functions (Operations, Facilities, Engineering, Viticulture, etc.) to ensure that business goals and targets are met. * Capacity and Contingency Planning * Ensure that Suppliers have necessary capacity to support the Business requirements. * Execute contingency plans for critical items (alternate suppliers/factories/items, business continuity plans, etc.). * Support the Supply Chain and Production functions when supply issues occur by escalating issues internally and working with supplier to identify and implement sustainable solutions. Reporting/Forecasting/Budgeting * Support the development, maintenance and reporting of savings and productivity metrics. * Support category metrics and analytics program Minimum Qualifications * Bachelor's degree from four-year College or University majoring in supply chain, finance, engineering or a business-related field or equivalent working experience. * 2+ years of Procurement, Supply Chain, or Planning experience. * Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with co-workers, related internal functions, external partners, and on project teams. * Strong analytical, critical thinking, & problem-solving skills required. * Solid, straightforward, and professional oral and written communication skills, including presenting data and analysis clearly to management. * Ability to work with all levels and functions within the Company, and with external business partners. * Ability to perform duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with the company's values.
