The estimated base salary range for this role is "$70,000 to $90,000" per year.

Individual pay is based upon location, skills and expertise, experience and other relevant factors (salary may be adjusted based on geographic location)

Reporting to the General Manager, the AS CAD Designer is responsible for overseeing the CAD Department and creating CAD drawings for GC Products and its customers in the architectural building products industry.

What you will do

  • Oversees all CAD department functions.

  • Creates submittal drawings from customer's architectural drawings and information.

  • Evaluates, analyzes, and implements innovative technologies and design tools to enhance CAD capabilities.

  • Maintains a clean and organized work area and office.

  • Collaborates with and supports other departments to maintain company operations and efficiency.

  • Participates in GC Products manufacturing efficiency program.

  • Strives for excellence and supports the success and profitability of the company.

  • Attends project and production meetings.

  • Engages in occasional travel to customer or other work locations.

What will make you successful

  • Associate degree/certificate in computer-aided design, engineering or computer science OR equivalent related work experience is required.

  • 5+ years of CAD/design experience.

  • 3+ years of 2D design drafting experience using AutoCAD.

  • Possesses a thorough understanding of CAD design and keeps up with the latest technology; uses knowledge for complex design and solutions to product and customer issues.

  • Extensive knowledge of 2D and 3D AutoCAD software.

  • Leadership skills and effective people skills.

  • Possesses advanced organizational skills.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products.

  • Extensive knowledge of the construction of standard and custom products.

  • Detail oriented.

  • Proficient at decision making.

  • Able to develop and deliver presentations.

  • Demonstrates solid verbal and written communication skills.

  • Bachelor's or associate degree with an emphasis on architecture, mechanical design or a closely related field

  • Previous experience using Rhino

Work Environment

  • Office Environment
  • This position operates in a professional office environment and is not exposed to adverse environmental conditions. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. No PPE is required.
  • Plant Environment
  • This position operates in a manufacturing setting and can be subject to extreme cold and hot temperatures; uneven walking surfaces with cords, tools, and other obstacles; intermittent loud noises; and dusty or dirty conditions. Required PPE includes hard hat (when required), safety glasses, earplugs, steel toe/composite boots, and fall protection.
