Atkore International is currently seeking a Product Designer for its Communications Integrators, Inc. (Cii) facility located in Tempe Arizona. Cii is a leader in the design and manufacturing of modular power, voice and data solutions. The position is focused on designing world-class buildings and forming strong relationships with clients. The candidate will collaborate positively and professionally in a team environment and deliver a project design from conception to completion that brings the client's ideas to fruition. Qualified candidates must be self-motivated, team players, interested in personal & professional growth and continuous learning. The ideal candidate must have excellent design and production skills. This role offers the right individual the opportunity to be a key contributor to the transformation efforts taking place on our rapidly improving facility.
Prepare complete estimates for assigned project(s) of all complexities.
Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
Prepare discipline estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work.
Maintain files of working documents as backup for estimate figures, including current and accurate information on prices from suppliers through direct contact, sales brochures and price lists, etc.
Review design options and recommend best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials.
Review and incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc. into unit and manhour figures.
Review proposal specifications, drawings and attend prebid meetings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
Coordinate total estimating effort relevant to particular bid/project as assigned.
Follow awarded contracts as assigned may include procuring material, etc.
Support other department personnel as required; may include preparing estimates in other disciplines.
Perform additional assignments as directed.
Job requirements include:
3 5 years' related experience
Electrical Journeyman's or Masters License preferred
Associates Degree required, Bachelor's Degree Preferred
Strong proficiency in AutoCAD Revit Architecture is beneficial
Demonstrated capability in all aspects of design and construction administration including but not limited to shop drawing/submittal review and coordination, periodic monitoring of construction sites, interfacing with contractors and clients
Strong technical proficiency and creative skills
Able to meet challenging deadlines while producing a quality product
Field experience creating medium and large projects
Proficiency with Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe, Bluebeam)
Knowledge of estimating techniques and cost control
Strong desire to represent the best interests of the company at all times
Strong inter-office communication skills and professional demeanor
