Job Summary:

As a Sr. Software Engineer your mission will be to provide world class Radar Software to be used in military systems deployed at sea and on land. As a member of the Radar Software Product Line team, you will provide impact to programs across the company's portfolio. Our software teams employ an Agile software development methodology to rapidly design, code, integrate and test capabilities on a continuous basis into a mature solution for our customers. We strive for technical excellence by drawing upon a diverse workforce whose knowledge base covers the complete spectrum of modern computing languages and platforms.

An advanced degree can be substituted for additional years of experience as follows: Master's is equal to 2 years of experience or a Ph.D. is equal to 4 years of experience. This position can be filled in Marlborough MA or Tewksbury MA.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Develop robust and scalable software in C++ running Linux or UNIX operating systems on a variety of computing platforms using Agile development methods.

  • Design, implement, debug and problem solve Radar Software Applications while providing feedback to other team members.

  • Help improve code quality by supporting software integration, verification and performing code reviews.

  • Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute ideas to our technology, algorithms and products.

  • Work in a team environment with the product and design teams to understand end-user requirements, formulate use cases, and then translate that into a pragmatic and effective technical solution.

  • Dive into difficult problems and successfully deliver results on schedule along with other duties as assigned.

Qualifications You Must Have:

Education: BS or BA degree in a STEM degree including Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Software Engineering, or related

  • 4 plus years' experience in Software Engineering to include:

  • Experience with C++ application code development and Linux/Unix

  • Experience developing software in a team based development environment

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Value

Education: Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or Software Engineering

  • Radar domain knowledge

  • Software development experience in a DoD environment

  • Broad real-time, multi-threaded software development experience

  • Strong Object-Oriented Design Knowledge including UML

  • Experience in Agile development methods, including Scrum, automated testing and continuous integration

  • Familiarity with the following Software Tools: Rational Rhapsody, ClearCase, Rational Team Concert, Jenkins, DOORS, Google Test

  • Self-starter and ability to lead development, integration and test activities

  • Strong problem solving ability

  • Active Secret Clearance

The Mechanical Product Team (MPT) leads in mechanical hardware design, development and production of radar, sonar, torpedo and combat system equipment using state-of the-art tools, processes, technology, and Raytheon Six Sigma standards MPT's capabilities encompass a broad range of technical disciplines which include engineering, manufacturing, technical services, materials, processes, analysis, test and documentation Job Summary: The Antenna Systems Department designs some of the most innovative land-based and shipboard radars in the world and is seeking a motivated Senior Mechanical Engineer with experience in hardware design and analysis. The position will primarily support design, development, and production focused around phased array antennas and supporting structures, power, and cooling sub-systems. Key expectations for this position include creative technical problem solving, along with technical leadership in the development of new hardware. Senior engineers will be required to make sound technical decisions, provide supervision and leadership to junior engineers and manage to cost and schedule requirements of assigned tasks. This position can be filled as a Sr. Mechanical Engineer II or as a Principal Mechanical Engineer based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience, and responsibility requirements for the position. Responsibilities to Anticipate: * Hardware design, development, analysis and TDP (Technical Data Package) development experience of Power Conversion and Distribution Systems: * Custom designed modules, cabinets, and integrated enclosures to support mobile, ground and shipboard radar systems * AC/DC, DC/DC, and DC/AC conversion systems * COTS power supplies * Electronics packaging * Demonstrated industry experience with power or electronics systems used in military and ruggedized systems * Representing the Mechanical Engineering organization as a technical SME (Subject Matter Expert) on Power Systems design and electronic projects * Understanding system level requirements and flow downs, and CAD modeling and drawing creation for compliance * Working as part of, or managing, a small team during product development, part and drawing creation, drawing release, and drawing change incorporation * Supporting formal and informal design reviews (preliminary and critical design reviews, team meetings) along with resolving and tracking to closure all action items assigned during reviews. * Providing design oversight and technical support to suppliers domestically and internationally, and production support to Raytheon factories * This position will require interfacing with other mechanical engineers, designers, and structural / thermal analysts, as well as cross functional engineering teams from other disciplines and with program management and customers.
