Job summary

Encompasses all activities involved with the procurement of raw materials such ad Flat Rolled Steel wire, tubes, and related processes such as cold rolling, annealing, warehousing, etc. This role spans from strategic activities to "hands-on" issue resolution.

It allows learning the Mubea way and the right candidate has the potential to develop into a regional Manager Raw Materials Purchasing. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.

The employee frequently is required to sit and stand; walk. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Duties and Responsibilities

Manages the supplier sourcing/purchase of raw materials and related processes. Determines requirements, identifies optimal supply sourcing and makes recommendations to Director of Purchasing and Global Commodity Leads.

Makes purchasing recommendations based upon best quality, delivery and total cost. Selection process will include close collaboration with commodity team (engineering, quality, etc.) and review/approval through Purchasing Director and respective business unit(s) heads. Stays current on regional steel market including supplier landscape and developments, market pricing, trade implications, etc.

Works with engineering and program management as well as commodity leadership in Germany to support development of mid-term commodity strategy for NA. Reviews RFQ responses and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority. Issues purchase orders through ERP system.

Maintains Procurement records of items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories. Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, suppliers, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action. Approves invoices for payment, when required.

Expedites delivery of goods, when assistance is required. Coordinate and support supplier surveys and evaluations in conjunction with respective business unit Quality Managers. Perform other duties as required or requested by Director.

Your profile

Bachelor's degree in Business or Engineering from four year college or university 5 years experience purchasing steel and steel related processes for automotive or industrial products manufacturing. Sound Financial and commercial knowledge and some experience of forecasting.

Basic knowledge in quality standards, APQP, PPAP, 8D capability studies. Six-sigma, Lean Management principals, CP etc. Good level of report writing and adept with most IT packages.

Be a leader, team player, coach and motivator and have a positive attitude toward others. Position requires basic negotiation skills in commodity marker environment. Preferred Education and Experience A master's degree in related field Automotive tier 1 experience SAP experience Experience working in a Germany based (international) organization.
