The Senior Buyer will perform material planning and purchasing functions necessary to support customer and business requirements in the most practical, economic, efficient and timely manner consistent with quality, delivery and regulatory requirements. Will support the objectives of Strategic Procurement toward meeting our goals. The Senior Buyer will represent the company with a high degree of professionalism when dealing with suppliers, internal and external customers and associates.
Job Core Responsibilities
Review sales orders, MRP, production schedules, bills of material and specifications to develop plans to meet requirements for materials, supplies, equipment and services.
Calculate detailed requirements for purchased manufactured parts and raw materials to support unit quantities needed to support production schedule within a specified time period.
Generate inquiries, solicit and evaluate quotations, issue awards and place purchase orders with selected suppliers, while coordinating with other departments to ensure all essential information is transmitted.
Perform expediting functions as required to ensure timely delivery of materials, supplies, services, etc.
Effectively manage supplier relations to optimize performance; work with Strategic Procurement Team to optimize cost and support development of our supply chain.
Monitor storeroom inventories, coordinate production requirements with Schedulers and Program Manage to ensure adequate supply of stock while minimizing over-stocking and obsolete inventory.
Maintain procurement records and documentation in accordance with corporate and departmental policies and procedures.
Drive supplier performance to established performance metrics. Participate in actions (CAR) taken for under-performing vendors.
Maintain a working knowledge of government procedures such as Priorities System, Government Furnished Property (GFP), classified document procedures and hazardous material control, as they relate to Site functions.
Notify management of any significant problems with material acquisition, pricing or delivery which can impact production schedules of product cost. Work with suppliers and transportation providers to minimize the impact and take corrective action to avoid recurrence of issues.
Generate and distribute material planning, purchasing and expediting reports as directed by management.
Work with the Procurement Manager and Compliance Specialist to ensure policy is being followed as stated in the Purchasing Manual; assist in preparations for internal and external audits of the Procurement Dept.
Education: Bachelor degree or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations
Years' Experience: 5 -7 years of relevant experience in aerospace/manufacturing environment or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations
Knowledge of the principles and practices of Procurement in aerospace/manufacturing environment
Demonstrated ability to write specifications, prepare bid documents, handle bidding process and analyze all bid results
Strong experience negotiating license contracts with a track record of success
Solves complex problems and exercises judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), with ability to drive tasks to completion
Proficient in Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP systems
Knowledge of FARS/DFARS (Federal Acquisition Regulations)
