Position Summary:
The Sr. Buyer will be responsible for managing all purchasing activities at one of our most challenging pipe production facilities. This includes contacting and negotiating with vendors, placing PO's, addressing discrepancies, and expediting orders as needed. Buyer will be responsible for all spend including raw materials, parts, services, MRO, etc.
This role will also be required to support Procurement activities which include commodity management, strategic sourcing and supplier management.
Duties & Accountabilities:
Manage all non-MRP and MRP based purchasing received through requisitions and weekly cycle counts
Review all Sales orders/Work orders for pipe and confirm accuracy
Address issues with incorrect, missing information on work orders and drawings
Generate purchase orders based on quotes and requirements.
Manage MRP and long lead items to insure materials are available for manufacturing.
Contact suppliers to resolve supply shortages, missed deliveries, wrong orders
Maintain and update a pricing/sourcing data for reference and reporting purposes
Liaising with vendors and Accounting to resolve any payment issues
Assisting the handling of defective materials or non-compliant parts through RMA and NCR procedures and ISO standards
Sourcing alternate suppliers and materials as required.
Support strategic procurement activities.

Required Qualification:
B.B.A. in Supply Chain Management from an accredited university or 5 years of relevant experience
Computer proficiency including familiarity using a variety of databases and ERP, MRP, excel
Understand lean inventory management techniques in a manufacturing environment
Understand the cradle to grave purchasing cycle
Experience with global sourcing considered an asset
Capable of reading and understanding engineered drawing packages and technical requirements
Experience with sourcing machining and fabrication services
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Prepare financial and technical analysis for justification for high value purchases
Assist in continuous improvement efforts of purchasing policies and procedures
Strong multi-tasking skills and an exceptional attention to detail essential
Excellent interpersonal skills, with strong ability to communicate via phone and email
Demonstrated ability to effectively manage professional vendor relationships
Have a strong commitment to safety and promoting a safety culture
Develop and maintain KPI tools and targets
Develop sourcing/supply strategies for high value critical purchases
