Responsibilities

The Sr. Business Intelligence Developer is responsible for the following:

  • Responsible for quality data development.

  • Maintain standard and ad hoc reports.

  • Create and manage business intelligence (BI) and analytics solutions that turn data into knowledge.

  • Leverage software tools that transform data into useful insights via reports, summaries, dashboards, graphs or charts.

  • Develop, identify, design, build, test, optimize, and maintain Data Warehouse and customer relationship management portals using MS tools.

  • Implement end-to end data integration projects, from policy systems to claim systems to data warehouse to reporting to reinsurance.

  • Work with high-performance data integration solutions that connect multiple data sources to extract and rapidly transform data to load into pre-designed data warehouses.

  • Create databases and schema objects including tables, indexes, and applied constraints.

  • Create OLAP cubes from relational data warehouses to develop measures, dimensions and business critical KPIs.

  • Import data from various sources (flat file, excel, raw file & various databases) and export to various destinations using SSIS.

  • Connect various applications to the database and write functions, stored procedures and triggers.

  • Design and implement new ETL processes and adapt current ETL processes to accommodate changes in source systems.

  • Work with business users to gather requirements and design an architecture for apps as a solution to those requirements.

  • Guide development teams to break down large and complex user stories into simplified versions for easy execution.

  • Work with pivot tables, graphs and reports and create VBA programs in MS Excel.

  • Convert data from legacy systems to new systems using ETL tools.

  • Perform quality assurance checks on new or enhanced reports and perform code reviews to ensure that high quality standards are met.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders and assist them with data-related technical issues.

  • Translate business requirements into sustainable and efficient visualizations and reports.

  • Participate in various ad hoc projects focused on system conversions, profitability, competitor analysis, and metrics.

  • Produce and maintain various monthly, quarterly and annual reports.

  • This position allows for 100% telecommuting from anywhere within the U.S.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of experience as software developer, BI developer or related.

  • Special skills: Must have work experience with each of the following:

Database management systems, online analytical processing with OLAP and ETL frameworks; Data warehouse design (dimensional modeling and data mining) for data coming from AS400 and Guidewire Suite (GWCC, GWPC, and GWBC); Writing Oracle SQL and PLSQL queries and using OBIEE, Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, SSRS and SSIS tools; Leverage knowledge of self-insured pooling/group concepts including underwriting models, accounting, finance, claims and business KPIs and metrics; and 5 years of experience supporting a major insurance ERP system.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems or math.
