JOB SUMMARY:

The Sr. Business Intelligence (BI) Developer will design, develop and deploy data analytics and information solutions for a wide variety of functions across the Marin Health enterprise.

Develops integrated solutions and effectively applies both business knowledge and technical expertise to design, develop, and implement BI reports, dashboards and other forms of information designed to gain new insights, monitor key organizational and operational measures, and provide visibility throughout the organization. Will be responsible for empowering users with data across the enterprise, providing a unique blend of clinical, technical, and analytical expertise.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS: EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's Degree or relevant experience required

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Analytics, Data Science or mathematics preferred

EXPERIENCE

  • At least three (3) years of experience in analytics / business intelligence required

  • At least two (2) years of experience in healthcare analytics or healthcare technology role preferred

PREREQUISITE SKILLS

  • Must possess a highly consultative work style and specialized knowledge that can be translated to business strategy initiatives.

  • Demonstrates intermediate level proficiency with complex SQL (multi joins, subqueries, unions) and creation of database objects (tables, views, store procedures, etc.)

  • Intermediate level data visualization skills and experience using Spotfire, SQL Server Reporting Service (SSRS), Tableau, PowerBI, Qlik or other data visualization tools.

  • Familiarity with health or business applications such as electronic health records, practice management systems or accounting software.

  • Has advanced analytics, statistics, or data science experience and can bring these to bear to suggest creative solutions and solve business problems.

  • Ability to construct transformations and calculations in SQL, R, and/or Python.

  • Expertise in relational database structures

  • Expertise in data flows, conceptual knowledge of ETL

  • Exceptional communication skills

  • Strong problem-solving techniques to achieve desired results and effect change

  • Demonstrated experience in project management

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

ESSENTIAL (not modifiable)

  • Coordinate with various business teams, subject matter experts, or external entities to translate business requirements into coherent Business Intelligence (BI) reports, datasets, dashboards, metrics, or key performance indicators (KPIs).

  • Develop Business Intelligence (BI) reports, datasets, dashboards, quality measures or key performance indicators (KPI's) using approved BI development processes with BI tools, programming languages and procedures.

  • Define overall data architecture strategy, solutions, data modeling standards, and processes for the use of Business Intelligence.

  • Develop measurements to support processes, analysis, reporting and optimization of clinical and business operations, with high-complexity, organizational and/or technical impact.

  • Document new and existing models, solutions, and implementations.

  • Implement best practices to ensure the integrity of data and quality of data processes.

  • Contributes to the departments short-term and long-term strategic plan.

  • Manage work queue of incidents and user requests within Service Management applications (such as ClickUp, Jira, Autotask, etc.)

  • Make appropriate recommendations on management of data capture, extraction, and analysis. Maintain knowledge of the current regulations and technologies related to data management.

  • Defines and refines customer needs, prioritizes, and allocates resources

  • Technical SME within the organization

  • Provides expertise in data management, data visualization, data distribution, KPI and metric creation

  • Maintains professional accountability to support financial, quality, and patient safety efforts in alignment with enterprise strategic priorities

  • Participates in enterprise data governance

  • Builds and maintains partnerships within the organization.

  • Ability to successfully present moderately complex ideas and information to a variety of audiences, including managers, directors, executives, and external entities.

  • Coordinates with Information Service leaders and teams

  • Reports on project status

  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.

The selected candidate's compensation will be determined based on the individual's skills, experience, internal/market equity factors, and qualifications. This posted minimum and maximum range represents the minimum and maximum of what we reasonably expect to compensate for the position. Furthermore, all compensation decisions are ultimately determined in accordance with our compensation philosophy. Compensation for positions covered by collective bargaining agreements are governed by the agreements in the aforementioned document.
