Sr. Business Development Analyst, Low Carbon Initiatives


The Sr Business Development Analyst, Low Carbon Initiatives is charged with analyzing data, both quantitative and qualitative, to help contextualize business opportunities and validate investment decisions for CO2 removal/reduction projects to support Low Carbon Initiatives' goals.

Essential Functions

Duties of the Sr. Business Development Analyst, Low Carbon Initiatives include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform financial modeling to support project/business investment decisions. Become the internal expert on valuation methodologies for the carbon removal technologies employed by Low Carbon Initiatives. Maintain constant communication with tax/accounting/treasury to solicit and maintain modeling assumptions guidance from relevant disciplines

  • Track and analyze CO2 offset markets and pricing to inform on business opportunities. Maintain close communications with carbon offset exchanges/trading platforms to stay current with market transactions

  • Support drafting of documents and management presentations for internal discussions/communication

Education / Language

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Data Science or related discipline

  • English/Spanish bilingual preferred


  • 3+ years of experience in modeling, preferably some experience with financial models

  • Strong analytical and computer skills (Excel, etc.)

  • Fundamental understanding of accounting, valuation theory, methodologies, and application

  • Ability to work cooperatively with all levels of staff

  • Excellent verbal communication skills


Some travel may be required to support some business activities.

Working Conditions

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.

We seek an analyst/senior analyst to join our global team of highly regarded experts providing analytics and insights into the world's carbon markets at Refinitiv/LSEG.</p><p>As we are growing our offerings on the North American regional emissions trading systems, the candidate will be part of a team responsible for further building out our US carbon product.</p><p>Overall responsibilities involve analyzing and forecasting market and price developments in North American carbon markets (Western Climate Initiative and Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative) as well as writing market comments, policy notes, and (with the wider team) contributing to broadening LSEG's North American offerings to clients - this includes supply, demand and price forecasting for these markets.</p><p>The candidate will have deep interest, curiosity and experience within energy or carbon markets and insights into policy processes. With excellent analytical skills, the successful candidate will be self-motivated, resourceful and independent, and will enjoy working in an international team of analysts covering carbon markets globally. Knowledge of languages other than English and experience working or studying outside the US and/or in an international setting/institution are desirable.</p><p>Day-to-day Tasks and Responsibilities:</p><ul><li><p>Track policy developments at the US and Canadian federal and state/provincial levels relevant to the regional carbon markets.
