Sr Business Analyst- JGS Insurance

The two principal owners of JGS, Kenneth Hager and Vincent Hager, represent in excess of 40 carriers both national and regional. We recognize the complexities and demands of a comprehensive insurance program for our clients. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Collaborates with the business to thoroughly understand the needs to be supported by the information systems and technology.

• Works as a mentor providing direction to Business Analysts and provides SME level expertise

• Determines how changes to the project will affect the business and systems.

• Responds to inquiries and provides advice to the client regarding current and potential system inputs, processes, and outputs.

• Facilitate requirements gathering sessions between business and IT.

• Negotiates plans and timeframes, ensuring that the business understands the anticipated result.

• Develops and communicates detailed specifications for implementation.

• Produces reports, timelines, and graphics to communicate expectations and progress to management, customers, investors, and other relevant parties.

• Maintains and ensures proper documentation and coordinates or performs testing of system modifications.

• Collaborates with the Project Manager to ensure business partner needs are met.

• Researches and analyzes the nature, effect, and results of system difficulties.

• Satisfies data sampling, project analysis, testing verification, and other user requests from existing client databases.

• Acts as liaison with Information Technology and/or outside vendors to support relevant systems.

• Maintains current understanding of industry standards, trends, and best practices through industry and other professional networks.

• Provides recommendations on system evolution.

• Creates, develops, provides, or coordinates system training, materials, and other educational tools.

• Helps develop ad hoc data reports using simple query language.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Detail oriented and proactive in taking measures to avoid or mitigate issues.

• Excellent understanding of computer systems, integrations, databases, and data storage systems.

• Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate with teams across the entire organization.

• Advanced knowledge of custom application development using multiple programming languages and frameworks.

• Highly collaborative with an excellent work ethic.

• Ability to make decisions with the best interest of the firm and end-users in mind.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

• Ability to learn any other appropriate program or software system used by the firm as necessary

• Demonstrates the organization's core values, exuding behavior that is aligned with the firm's culture

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor's degree in information technology, business, computer science or a related field of study required;

• 7+ years of experience in an Information Technology position required.

• Vast experience with multiple development methodologies such as Agile, Incremental, Waterfall, etc.

• Experience with full project life cycle, requirement analysis, documentation, development, test, and support.
