The Senior Business Analyst will provide mentorship and guidance to Business Analysts by providing project oversight, recommending and supporting business decisions by Analysts, and communicating to leadership on project status. The Senior Business Analyst is also responsible for reviewing business processes in order to gain a complete understanding of current procedures, identify improvements, document those processes, data analysis, and reporting. The SBA will work interdepartmentally, make business decisions with Management, and communicate to leadership to ensure deliverables are met. This person understands the business and ensures that there is integration between business and technology.
The Senior Business Analyst is a major contributor to project implementation by defining business objectives and requirements, developing project plans, establishing deadlines, monitoring milestone completion, coordinating across departments, providing timely reporting of issues that impact progress, and resolving conflicts. This includes documenting and prioritizing assignments to project team members.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Work with Management to prioritize and coordinate workflow for the Business Analysts, is the point person for Business Analysts and coaches and instructs others as needed to increase knowledge and skills
Collaborate with business units to understand strategic goals and promote an environment conducive to creativity, change and information exchange.
Communicate departmentally and interdepartmentally to recommend and request new concepts and/or modifications to existing workflow, system set up, tools and designs.
Ability to prepare professional presentations and present to stakeholders and leaders across the organization
Identify defects and improve departmental performance by supporting quality, operation efficiency and production goals.
Maintains active communication on project updates with leadership; clearly identifying any project risks, dependencies or decisions that can impact the department or the overall organization.
Analyze various types of data and processes to root cause, trend, and summarize findings. Present findings and recommend changes to address deficiencies and/or further improve and streamline performance based on analysis.
Work directly with appropriate members of the department and other Healthfirst business units to understand project concepts, objectives and approach.
Create documentation for business processes and collaborate with teams to share knowledge.
Define business requirements for assigned project or company initiatives.
Work with Information Technology department to ensure business requirements are clearly understood and solutions are presented to meet the requirements.
Assess and prepare to address the operational impacts, workflow, and training issues of the assigned project(s).
Responsible for the overall success of applicable testing, including coordination, defect resolution, and results verification before Management team approval.
Ensure post implementation accuracy.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
Work in experience in the Analytics space
Proficiency in Excel analytics and reporting functionality (pivot tables, graphs, v-lookup, etc.)
Proficiency in mapping business processes and understanding processes across departments
Demonstrated ability to lead teams, exercise good judgment and work with independence and initiative as well as strong ability to work closely as a team member
Ability and willingness to handle increasing workload and responsibility
Experience with preparing and presenting to various level audiences
Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
Experience identifying, documenting, and communicating business requirements
Research and analytical experience in examining problems and participation in implementing innovative solutions
Experience with manipulation of large data sets to assist with root-causing, trending and summarization of analysis
Ability to solve problems under time pressure, with frequent interruptions
Capability of multi-tasking including strong organizational and time management skills
Master's degree or higher from an accredited institution
Healthcare industry experience (i.e. managed care organization, commercial health insurance plans, hospital, etc.)
Demonstrated ability to work within regulatory and compliance guidelines including accordance to HIPAA
Experience with Six Sigma or knowledge of other process improvement tools
