The Senior BSA Analyst supports the Bank's enterprise-wide BSA Program to ensure all BSA regulatory requirements are met and to protect the Bank from losses. Responsible for investigating and monitoring customer transactions through the use of automated monitoring systems and reporting transactional testing across all business lines. Performs other relevant reporting responsibilities as designated by the BSA Officer.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Researches, analyzes and investigates transactions for suspicious activity.

  • Researches and documents moderately complex cases generated from automated monitoring system and referred by Bank personnel for potential suspicious activity and makes recommendations for SAR (Suspicious Activity Reporting) to FinCEN or Non-SAR case determinations.

  • Analyzes and documents review of automated alerts from the Bank's AML software BAM+ for suspicious activity.

  • Investigates cases involving, but not limited to cash structuring, transactions involving Bank designated High Risk Countries (HRC), wire transfers, commercial loan payments, and reports from branches regarding their customer's activity.

  • Reviews and investigates any potential matches to the FinCEN 314a list.

  • Researches or recommends 314 (b) information requests, as assigned.

  • Prepares written narratives and other required reports in compliance with established regulatory guidelines, procedures and time frames.

  • Communicates with branch and department managers, for clarification when researching and investigating cases, as necessary. Documents results of investigations on case management system to ensure it meets reporting requirements of both internal and external entities. Substantiates NON-SAR decisions with documentation.

  • Keeps direct supervisor abreast of any significant events that affect the day-to-day activity of the BSA department

  • Maintains thorough knowledge of the Bank's systems used to conduct research of customer transaction activity. Makes recommendations for closing accounts and performs associated follow up to ensure closure of the accounts.

  • Maintains a good understanding of the BSA regulations and FinCEN guidelines relative to BSA Suspicious Activity Reporting and current money laundering schemes and investigative techniques required to detect such schemes.

  • Keeps up-to-date with the latest trends in the industry.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of BSA SAR Investigation experience

  • CAMS certification preferred but not required

  • BAM+ experience preferred but not required

RESPONSIBILITIES * Reviews reports produced by the Bank's core system, Horizon, with the list generated by the Bank's AML software, Banker's Toolbox (BKTB), to accurately file Currency Transaction Report (CTR) through FinCEN E-Filing. * Communicates with branches to clarify any reporting information. * Reviews Monetary Instrument Log (MIL) information entered by the branches via Horizon; and communicates with branches to accurately complete the log, as needed. * Ability to extract and analyze reports from AML software for suspicious activity. * Responsible for reviewing automated alerts generated by the AML software, as assigned. * Make sound recommendations for Suspicious Activity Reporting or non-SAR filing as appropriate. * Maintains awareness of the Bank's systems used to conduct research of customer transaction activity. * Maintains a good understanding of the BSA regulations and FinCEN guidelines relative to BSA Suspicious Activity Reporting and current money laundering schemes and investigative techniques required to detect such schemes. * Keeps up-to-date with the latest trends in the industry. * Cross-trains with senior staff or management to enhance BSA/AML & OFAC skills QUALIFICATIONS * 1+ years of BSA experience Pacific Premier Bank Irvine CA
