Supernal provides an inviting open-space workplace designed to foster collaboration, which aligns with one of our core values. This position is required to work on-site 5 days a week.

What we do:

The Sr. Autonomy Engineer for Planning will have various responsibilities, including developing path planners and trajectory planners while working with components that incorporate human guidance or input into robot execution. This role requires a multidisciplinary approach, exposing the engineer to safety-critical system engineering, planning, control, simulation, and embedded computing.

What you can do:

  • Design and develop path planning software for use cases like obstacle avoidance, emergency landing etc.

  • Perform ride quality and handling qualities analysis for designed autopilot features

  • Conduct simulations and real-world testing to validate the effectiveness of algorithms

  • Create detailed documentation of algorithms, methodologies, and processes related to planning

  • Partner with PMO organization to implement build plan

  • Up to 10% of domestic and international travel

  • Other duties as assigned

What you can contribute:

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field required; Master's degree preferred

  • Experience in planning & reacting approaches (e.g., optimization-based approaches, search methods, artificial potential fields, probabilistic road maps, etc.)

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in engineering (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Proactive delivery of communication and follow-up

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Must have the ability to independently prioritize and accomplish work within time constraints

You may also be able to contribute:

  • Proficiency in languages such as Python and/or C++ preferred

  • Familiarity with autonomy algorithms used in Sense and Avoid and Autonomous Taxi/Takeoff and Landing preferred

  • Knowledge of professional software engineering and standard processes for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, and testing preferred

Base pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge and location. This position is also eligible for a bonus as part of total compensation.

The pay range for this position is:

$180,100—$218,300 USD
