In this exciting role as a Sr Automation Engineer you will report into the Equipment & Automation team at the Plymouth

  • Nathan Lane location in the Peripheral Vascular Health (PVH) Operating Unit (OU). The PVH OU brings our various peripheral vascular businesses together into one cross-functional, collaborative operating unit to employ the full breadth of our talent, technologies, products, services, and solutions to address the needs of customers and patients across the globe. This role will provide site level support for manufacturing equipment in an automation and controls capacity. Project work will include new technology integration, equipment improvements & redesigns. We are looking for a technically competent, ambitious individual with a strong electrical background.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Provides technical and sustaining engineering support in a manufacturing area.

  • Recommends and implements equipment and process modifications to meet quality standards and improve production efficiencies, manufacturing techniques as well as production yields for existing products.

  • Integrates equipment and material capabilities to meet process module target specifications and technology target specifications.

  • Support equipment mechanization & automation initiatives from business case to implementation.

  • Provide advanced troubleshooting support for electronics, controls, robotics, & vision systems

  • Collaborate with AME team to incorporate process changes into existing equipment.

  • Tune closed loop control equipment for optimal performance.

  • Document equipment requirements & review vendor designs.

  • Support full equipment life cycle, development through sunsetting.

  • Drive standard work for equipment health assessment.

  • Equipment improvements in support of increasing OEE metric.

  • Support equipment modifications for SPC initiatives.

  • Improve equipment up time through troubleshooting, spare part review, & vendor partnerships.

  • Provide support for the technician department in equipment troubleshooting to reduce / eliminate downtime.

  • Work with a team to help design, develop and customize electromechanical systems for manufacturing.

  • Assist with the development and design of controls systems.

  • Provide Controls engineering support for the site.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required

  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience

Nice to Have

  • Experience with PLC/HMI hardware/software design, programming, and troubleshooting
  • AB, Horner, Beckhoff & more
  • Experience with Vision System

  • Robotics integration experience - mobile industrial robots & material handling

  • Experience selecting and working with equipment vendors

  • Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) implementation experience

  • Experience Troubleshooting HMI, PLC, VFDs, temperature controllers, etc.

  • Experience writing & executing equipment development documentation, such as Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and User Requirement Specifications (URS) for new equipment

  • New equipment/technology implementation from idea to production experience

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$97,600.00 - $146,400.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
