Sr Automation Engineer

The Sr. Automation Engineer: Develops, designs, builds and tests robotic platforms from prototype through product commercialization. Creates an integrated autonomous interface, mobility, communication, and human-robot interaction. Works with cross-functional teams to understand opportunities for robotic applications.

Major Position Responsibilities

• Uses engineering techniques to design, develop, test, and manage automated machinery processes.

• Designs, programs, simulates, optimizes, and tests automated machinery to streamline manufacturing processes.

• Uses design techniques to build automated systems such as: measurement functions, control functions, and actuators, etc.

• Configures systems using Programmable Logic Control (PLC) and Human Machine Interface (HMI) techniques.

• Considers automation workflow, production layout, and safety measures when designing automated machinery processes.

• Audits current equipment and automated processes to determine failure rates.

• Models, tests, and measures output and data to analyze performance or quality issues

• Develops solutions to resolve production problems, maximize product reliability, and minimize cost.

• Drafts and designs detailed technical documentation for design specifications and additional relevant documents.

• Adheres to international and local regulatory standards for design, process, and safety considerations.

Basic Qualifications

Required Education: Associates Degree

Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree

Discipline/Major: General Engineering or specialized Engineering degree required

Years of Experience: 5-7 years of experience in automation engineering or a related field

Skills, certifications, abilitiies and attributes required:

Technical Skills: Proficiency in Programmable Logic Control (PLC) programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley), Human Machine Interface (HMI) development, robotics, CAD software, and simulation tools.

Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, excellent communication abilities, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

• Develop and implement automated systems for use in diverse manufacturing and production environments.- Design control systems and programmable logic controllers Programmable Logic Control (PLCs) to automate specific tasks.- Write and debug software programs for automated machinery and systems.- Develop Human Machine Interface (HMI) screens and dashboards for monitoring and controlling processes.- Program robotics and other automation hardware.- Troubleshoot and resolve any issues with automated systems.- Oversee the installation of automation systems and machinery.- Ensure that automated systems are integrated effectively with existing processes.- Provide technical support during the installation and start-up phases.- Monitor and maintain automated systems to ensure they function properly over time.- Implement upgrades and improvements to enhance performance and efficiency.- Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance.- Prepare detailed technical documentation, including design specifications, user manuals, and maintenance procedures.- Train operators and other staff on the proper use and maintenance of automated systems.- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, software developers, and production managers.- Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs and provide tailored automation solutions.- Ensure all automated systems comply with industry standards and safety regulations.- Implement safety protocols and procedures to protect workers and equipment.

• Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
