Job Description:

We are looking for a dynamic talented individual to join our RDT Team at SPARK Clear Aligner System, Pomona CA. The Sr. Automation/Controls Engineer along with the RDT (Research Development and Transformation) team visualizes and creates the Digital Factory of the future for Mass Customization of the Clear Aligner System. The role requires someone working on site Monday through Friday in Pomona.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with project manager, mechanical design engineer, and software group to develop a low-risk and robust machine design.

  • Program all software for unique projects with a variety of needs (PLC, HMI/SCADA, Servo, Robotics, Vision, Laser, etc.)

  • Provide improvement and sustaining engineering support for existing production lines

  • Use automated solutions to develop, maintain, and improve manufacturing and inspection processes and procedures.

  • Support and/or perform equipment, process validations, and testing to internal procedures.

  • Initiate equipment modifications to improve productivity and product quality.

  • Work with outside vendors to coordinate the development of manufacturing equipment.

  • Work closely with the maintenance department to improve machine reliability/reduce downtime and define equipment maintenance requirements.

  • Assist with procurement

  • Assist with resolving issues with suppliers.

  • Assist with repairing equipment and tooling.

  • Assist with performing process failure mode effects analyses.

  • Work with Operations and outside Vendors to create methods/processes to improve capacities with production.

  • Document Cost Savings

  • Work with management to establish project timelines, project justification, and budget forecasts.

  • Must demonstrate responsibility for the quality and financial aspects of the company.

  • Pursue and participate in company LEAN initiatives.

Job Requirements:

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field

  • 3 to 5 years' experience in automation and/or process machinery controls design

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have the ability to travel internationally; including Mexico, China and Czech Republic up to 25% of the time.

  • Must have a valid passport.

Preferred skills:

  • Proficient in the design and troubleshooting of complex machine control systems and programs.

  • Intermediate skills in PC programming (.NET) (CPP is plus)

  • Experience in PLC controls (primarily Allen Bradley CompactLogix & ControlLogix)

  • Knowledge of HMI (primarily Rockwell Automation FactoryTalk View SE & ME and Ignition)

  • Knowledge of Vision Inspection & Vision Guided motion (primarily Cognex VisionPro and InSight)

  • Experience with Solid Works or other solid modeling software

  • Experience and exposure to mainstream manufacturing technologies such as CNC's, 3D prototyping, thermoforming, automation within manufacturing environment.

  • Basic project management experience.

  • Excellent technical skills

  • Working knowledge of CNC machines and processes is plus

  • Knowledge of process related standards

  • Experience in process simulations (FEA is plus)

  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations (FDA Regulations & ISO 13485 Knowledge) is plus

  • Experience in process/equipment validation and documentation is plus

  • Proficient in MS Office

  • Must possess effective and verbal communications skills.

Travel:

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have the ability to travel (including Mexico) up to 25% of the time.

Language skills:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral are required.

The ability to speak, and read a foreign language is a plus; English/Spanish Bilingual preferred

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, and operating procedures. Must have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence. The ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization is required.

Target Market Salary Range:

At Envista, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The total compensation package for this position may also include an annual performance bonus, medical/dental/vision benefits, 401K match, and/or other applicable compensation plans.
