Job Description

The Senior Application Engineers within the COE team in North America seek to walk alongside customers with their complex projects. Utilizing their experiences and knowledge, as well as partnering with aftermarket services and R&D, they work with customers to assist them with successful Danfoss Drive(s) installations. In delivering single units or complex drive lineups, the many specialties within the COE team partner with people to define VFD capabilities, select products and implement them.

This can be a remote position is the candidate is willing to travel up to 50% to Loves Park, Il and customer locations or work hybrid out of our Loves Park, Il facility.

Job Responsibilities

Areas of Responsibilities

  • Technical support resource for sales team and key accounts in the NAM region

  • Active involvement to support business development activities to drive sales growth in Heavy Industry and Electrification Solutions

  • Support product integration into cabinet solutions for our customers, generate configured to order cabinet solutions and help develop engineered to order projects

Key tasks

  • Supporting customers on how to integrate common DC bus drives into cabinet solutions, pre and post sale

  • Helping to quote and deliver Danfoss custom cabinet solutions for our customers in Heavy Industry and Electrification

  • Supporting panel partners and integrators with UL & NEC compliant installation guidelines

  • Application engineering support for cabinets - drive selection, harmonic mitigation and/or analysis, fieldbus integration, Cable standards, motor performance, etc.

  • Case management and escalation as required

  • Support project specification review and development

  • Technical training for sales personnel

  • Project and/or technical management as directed for key accounts

  • Joint sales calls with sales team and partners within the NAM region

  • Individual Maintenance of extensive product and application expertise

  • Commissioning support for products and projects, with good handoff to Aftermarket services

Background & Skills

Minimum requirements to educational background

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field (BSEET or BSME)

Minimum requirements to working experience

  • 5-7 Years relevant experience with system integration, VFD Cabinet solutions, fieldbus integration, and commissioning

  • Experience with UL508A Cabinet standards, UL1741 experience considered an asset

  • Ability to travel extensively within the NAM region with 25 to 50% overnight
