Sr. Android Developer

This position is a hybrid role requiring employees to work from our headquarters location in Seattle, WA or San Francisco, CA every Tuesday and Wednesday, and remote all other days.

As an Android engineer, you'll join a passionate team working to enable Redfin's app developers to build and ship the top-rated real estate apps. You will support the infrastructure to ensure our app is fast and stable. You'll also build the core frameworks, mobile design system, and tooling to support building features for our customers that allow them to interact with the home buying/selling/renting experience while on the move. You will help us build rich features and tools that keep buyers and sellers engaged with the site so that when they are ready to take the next step, they choose Redfin.

You will join a diverse and passionate community of mobile developers working to build engaging experiences to make it easy for users to find their next home. You'll also work with the latest technologies, utilizing mobile code written in Kotlin, MVVM architecture, Compose, Hilt, JetPack, Retrofit, and Coil to name just a few.

The Role

• You will design and implement complex, technical projects that enable Redfin's app developers to build and ship the top-rated real estate apps.

• Contribute to the long-term strategy of the Android platform, considering technical and product-level concerns.

• Collaborate with your teammates by reviewing code, writing documentation, refining best practices, and building maintainable and testable codebases.

• Work closely with our product and design teams to understand user and business needs.

• Drive the team forward in Android best practices and design principles, bringing in cutting-edge industry trends.

Who You Are

• You continually obsess over improving the user experience, whether it's collaborating with product managers and designers to build beautiful products or finding and squashing performance bottlenecks.

• You have 5+ years of development experience with at least 4 years of Native Android experience.

• You have practical experience building Android applications in Kotlin and Java, and a solid understanding of computer science and engineering fundamentals.

• Effective communication: you can collaborate across distances and experience levels, and you can disagree constructively with respect for everyone's opinions and ideas.

• You have a passion for well-architected, clean, well-written code.

• You are curious about mobile CI/CD and cloud development technologies, such as Bitrise and Jenkins.

The compensation information is provided in compliance with job posting disclosure requirements in Hawaii, Colorado, New York, New Jersey, Washington, and California.

Base Pay Range: $141,800.00 - 219,200.00. Actual base pay will depend on varying circumstances, including the position, location, individual qualifications, market finances, and other operational business needs. Depending on the position, compensation may also include commissions, bonuses, and equity. Potential for quarterly bonuses based on company performance. Potential for merit increases and stock grants based on performance.
