Sr. Analytical Engineer
Job Summary:
Sr. Analytical Engineer (Troy, MI, or other unanticipated locations throughout the U.S.) Responsibilities include: Designing and developing electrification programs as well as next-gen EDUs (Electric Drive Unit). Working with CAE leads to plan and execute various Electro-Magnetic, FEA, Durability, Sealing and Gearbox Dynamic simulations. Performing Rotor and Stator interface design calculations. Performing structural stress and durability CAE analyses of 3-in-1 EDU system and components. Applying test results to assess the risk and providing guidance to improve structural design validation for current programs and future products. Performing e-Drive housing topology optimization to improve the stiffness and structure integrity and casting performance while reducing the total mass and improving products' overall fuel economy. Performing e-Drive Gear Deflection analysis with Masta, ABAQUS, and Ansol T3D to verify the gearbox dynamic performance. Performing EDU NVH thermal sensitivity through driveline system dynamics and bearing dynamics to improve the NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) robustness. Performing EDU bolt joint sealing and bolt slippage performance analysis with various gasket designs and sealing strategies.
Education/Experience Required:
M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautics & Astronautics or closely related. 12 months experience in any related Mechanical Engineering position including Graduate Assistant/Research Assistant. 12 mo. experience in: ABAQUS python automation; FEA Simulations & CAE Analysis; predicting stiffness and structural integrity; noise & vibration, stress analysis; dynamics analysis; structural design validation and testing; e-Drive Gear Deflection Abaqus measurement algorithm. Telecommuting permitted.
