Job Description Summary

The GOS Global Technology Service group, is a team of dedicated IT consultants, project managers and business analysts that support our client technology solutions through best-in-class software systems utilizing a service delivery model to deliver value within a clear, consistent and measurable framework. Additionally, we provide assessment, technology roadmap, transition and integration services as well as a continuous improvement-based support model to ensure an ongoing technology investment for the duration of our client relationships.

In support of Global Occupier Services, our team also provides business development support including solution definition, pricing, technology demonstration and delivery for Strategy and Portfolio Administration Services, Transaction & Project Management Transaction, Facilities (IFM), Space & Occupancy, and Financial Management.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities:

We are looking for an experienced Analysis Services/Business Intelligence Developer to help build and improve a global BI platform built primarily on the Microsoft stack in Azure. You will use your design, coding and business analysis skills to create, maintain and enhance data objects and measures in Azure Analysis Services tabular models as part of a structured software development lifecycle. There will also be an element of business analysis and documentation to support the tabular models that make up the semantic layer. Ultimately, you will help develop tabular models and contribute to reporting solutions to ensure company information is presented securely and accurately.

  • BAU Data Warehouse Support - troubleshoot and fix analysis services issues including sometimes complex business logic implemented in Power Query and/or DAX within our BI solution consolidating data from various applications for internal and external clients

  • Platform Development - create and enhance multiple tabular models as part of planned platform development projects and activities

  • Transition Management - support the technology components of new client on boarding to include such items as building and testing objects and measures in tabular models, etc.

  • Client Project Services - carry out technology project related activities to include such items as requirements capture, business rule specification, tabular model design, change management routines in Azure Analysis Services and Power BI

  • Collateral development - in supporting the DW solutions the role includes activities such as documenting the new implementations and changes in the data model to be able to compile for multiple IT and Business standards

Knowledge & Experience:

  • At least 5 years solid Power Query and DAX coding experience with tabular models using SQL Server Analysis Services (including SSAS 2016 or greater) and/or Azure Analysis Services

  • Demonstrable experience as technical lead in the design of tabular models from scratch as part of a semantic layer implementing complex business logic supporting visualizations in Power BI

  • Experience gathering and analyzing business requirements; documenting their technical implementation

  • Experience or knowledge of Power BI as a pure visualization layer using direct query

  • Routine use of source control (Git, SVN, TFS, etc) as part of regular BI development activities.

  • Knowledge of conceptual, logical and physical data modeling, dimensional models, star schemas, etc. (although this is not a data modeling role)

  • Proven experience troubleshooting and resolving analysis services issues. Debugging, identifying bugs and driving them to closure by working closely with the development team

  • Tabular model performance tuning, partitioning and optimization experience

  • Work closely with a multi-disciplinary team in an Agile / Scrum environment ensuring quality deliverable end of each sprint.

  • Good communication skills in creating and maintaining technical documentation

  • Familiarity with test management (UAT, unit testing, system integration testing and release to live processes)

  • Fluent English

  • Project Management Methodologies

Nice to have

  • Tabular model development and deployment accelerators such as BISM Normalizer or Analysis Services Deployment Wizard.

  • Test-driven BI development using NBi, SentryOne Legitest, DbFit or other testing frameworks

  • IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundations / Software Development Lifecycle Management (SDLC)

  • Involvement with BI community activities or newsgroups

  • Any exposure to Azure LogicApps or PowerApps would also be welcome

  • An understanding of software engineering principles, particularly the database lifecycle management (DLM) process e.g. version-controlled releases; branching & merging; partially or fully automated release builds, continuous integration/delivery, etc.


  • Degree in IT, Engineering, natural sciences, business IT degree or in any quantitative discipline
