Sr Analyst Portfolio Engineering

Job Description:

The Senior Analyst, Portfolio Engineering, will report to the VP of Portfolio Engineering. You will work closely with the VP, as well as with other members of the Portfolio Engineering and broader FIWA Investment Office team; playing a vital role in contributing to the investment performance of the team.

Additionally, the ideal candidate should have a demonstrated leadership/initiative in studies/extracurricular activities as well as an academic/intellectual interest in markets. You should possess excellent communication, presentation and writing skills and be able to clearly articulate research findings. This role requires someone who is hard working, hungry to learn and achievement- and results-oriented.

The Team

Fidelity Institutional Wealth Advisor (FIWA) Investment Office represents the intellectual investment capital for Fidelity Institutional. FIWA is the Intermediary focused Investment Adviser supporting the Fidelity Institutional Platform and Practice Management efforts. Five teams within FIWA Investment Office report to the Deputy Chief Investment Officer including Investment Relationship Management, Thought Leadership, Capital Markets Strategy, Fund & Manager Research, and Portfolio Engineering. The FIWA Portfolio Engineering team provides:

  • Investment oversight for portfolio construction processes

  • Due diligence, rationalization, and governance for Investment IP tools and processes

  • Thought leadership and quantitative research support

  • Quantitative research ratings

The Expertise You Have

We are seeking candidates who have the following credentials and characteristics:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in mathematics, engineering, computer science, finance, or another quantitative field

  • 3+ years of quantitative research, investment management, and/or portfolio construction experience

  • Working experience with any third-party investment analysis platform (e.g., Morningstar, FactSet, Bloomberg)

  • Working experience with any statistical software packages (e.g., R, Python, MATLAB), Excel, and SQL and familiarity with databases/exposure working with big data sets

  • Demonstrated experience/interest/skill in quantitative analysis and research

  • Strong quantitative, programming, and database skills with the ability to think analytically, communicate clearly, and work collaboratively

  • Series 7 and 63 highly preferred, or willing to acquire within business unit guidelines

  • CFA designation, or progress towards the designation preferred, but not required

  • Strong interpersonal skills and a real passion for working in a team environment
