Election Systems & Software, LLC is looking to fill a Sr. Analyst, Business Applications position in Omaha, Nebraska.
Master's degree (foreign equivalent accepted) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a related field and three years experience required, or in the alternative, will accept a Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent accepted) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a related field and five years' progressively responsible experience. Experience must include the following specific experience:
Three (3) years of experience with Microsoft applications and Visio. Three (3) years of experience with issue tracking and prototyping tools.
Three (3) years of experience with requirements management tools, creating use cases and activity programs. Three (3) years of experience with the technical capacity to accomplish most tasks or steps using personal judgment. Three (3) years of experience with problem solving through deliberate analysis.
Three (3) years of experience with seeing actions in longer term goals, experiments with alternatives to rules and guidelines. Three (3) years of experience with strong communications skills - verbally and in writing.
The Sr. Analyst, Business Applications is a leader for defining and designing build requirements and specifications for an array of products that manage elections; as well as proving guidance to less experienced staff. This role requires taking ownership of complex software solutions including elicitation and management of requirements and specifications implementation, technical design documentation and managing change in the product development lifecycle.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Identify and communicate with all stakeholders to properly frame and structure a problem to be solved and/or an opportunity to be realized by considering assumptions, constraints, dependencies and risks in order to discover strategies to reduce time/cost required to implement proposed solution(s). This includes planning and leading focus and feedback events. Elicit requirements including but not limited to using interviews, document analyses, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, uses cases, scenarios, and task and work flow analyses to document, validate, prioritize, trace and clearly convey all requirements.
Critically evaluate information gathered from all sources and reconcile conflicts, decompose highlevel, information into details, abstract lowlevel information into general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true need. Work with development, product owners and other internal and external stakeholders including less experienced analysts to develop functional specifications and other artifacts as needed to clearly define how a given feature or product will work from the users perspective. Maintain, manage and update functional specifications as the feature moves through development.
Perform implementation reviews to validate that requirements, user stories, and agreed upon designs provided in the functional specifications are developed correctly. Provide troubleshooting expertise for product problems/issues and work with support teams and relevant stakeholders to resolve applicationrelated issues quickly and effectively. Participate in project scope determination, release planning and work estimation.
