This position works with our Admitted Small Commercial team brokering risks for BOP, WC, Auto, and

Umbrella lines of business with national insurance carriers. This position requires an Ohio Property and Casualty License within 90 days of hire date.

Compensation Grade: E3

JOB SUMMARY: Under technical direction, accepts, retains, and prices insurance lines in conformance with established underwriting policies, practices and standards of the markets represented in a wholesale operation.

Provides underwriting services, consultation, and training. Exercises authority and judgment on placement of risks. Assigned to a specific agency group(s) to negotiate, place, and service insurance contracts.

Audits underwriting submissions to ensure compliance. Conducts various training sessions with agents on products offered in the Wholesale Operation.

LOCATION: Nationwide Brokerage Solutions (NBS)

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to Manager, Brokerage Placement

1.Under technical direction, retains, and prices insurance products in nature in conformance with established underwriting policies, practices and standards of the markets represented. Accountable for portfolio management for assigned agents.
2.Partners with agent to secure additional information required to obtain quote. With guidance, determines all applicable contracts and forms. Communicates with carrier's functional areas relating to policy issues, rates, endorsements, corrections or changes.
3.Analyzes, evaluates, and prepares underwriting data and submission documentation according to carrier and brokerage specifications.
4.Monitors the submission process and expedites individual accounts when required. Examines and evaluates underwriting submissions to ensure underwriting guidelines and policy
5.Monitors the need for the development or enhancement of products and/or coverage based on customer feedback. Interacts various business units (i.e. marketing, product, sales, etc.) to achieve company goals and objectives.
6.Maintains knowledge on program changes; responsible for monitoring legislation and regulation that impact assigned agents. Establishes and maintains effective relationships with agents in order to generate premium dollars and profitably.
7.Acts as a resource for training for less experienced staff.
8.Performs other related duties as assigned.


Education: Undergraduate studies in business administration or related field of study; degree preferred.

License/Certification/Designation: General insurance-related course / designations preferred (AICPCU, INS, or IAA).

Experience: Three years insurance product experience in underwriting, sales support, or claims.

Understanding of brokerage placement procedure, practices, and processes.

Knowledge of insurance product line(s) specific to assigned business unit, underwriting policies and procedures, and best practices. Familiarity with technical nomenclatures and various state regulations.

Skills/Competencies: Ability to identify, evaluate, analyze, and recommend solutions regarding to insurance needs.

Verbal and written communication skills to interact with internal/external business partners at all levels. Ability to influence and negotiate with internal/external business partners at all levels. Proven organizational skills to effectively prioritize work and act in a consulting role. Ability to use/learn job related software.

Basic Qualifications: * Hold DoD-8570 IAT Level 2 baseline certification (Security, CEH, CYSA+, CISSP, or equivalent). * Possess an active interim Top Secret security clearance. * Background in CND Countermeasure techniques and systems. * Demonstrated understanding of TCP/IP, common networking ports and protocols, traffic flow, systems administration, OSI model, defense-in-depth, and common security elements. * Demonstrated commitment to training, self-study, and maintaining proficiency in the technical cyber security domain * Willing to perform shift work. Desired Skills: * CND experience (Protect, Detect, Respond, and Sustain) within a Computer Incident Response organization. * Demonstrated understanding of the life cycle of network threats, attacks, attack vectors, and methods of exploitation with an understanding of intrusion set Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures. * Advanced understanding of TCP/IP, common networking ports and protocols, traffic flow, system administration, OSI model, defense-in-depth, and common security elements. * Demonstrated hands-on experience analyzing high volumes of logs, network data (e.g. Netflow, Full Packet Capture), and other artifacts in support of incident investigations. * In-depth knowledge of architecture, engineering, and operations of at least one enterprise SIEM platform (e.g. Nitro/McAfee Enterprise Security Manager, ArcSight, QRadar, LogLogic, Splunk). * Experience and proficiency with any of the following: Anti-Virus, HIPS, IDS/IPS, Full Packet Capture, Host-Based Forensics, Network Forensics. * Experience with malware analysis concepts and methods. * UNIX/LINUX command line experience. * Scripting and programming experience. * Motivated self-starter with strong written and verbal communications skills, and the ability to create complex technical reports on analytic findings.
