Responsibilities

Develop the next generation of algorithms for semiconductor device and thin film metrology. The position requires an innovative track record in the related fields of algorithm development, statistical data analysis and signal processing, image analysis and machine learning. The candidate should have a background in engineering/math/physics and be comfortable and conversant in disciplines such as optics, information and noise analysis, solving optimization problems (forward and inverse).

The Algorithms Scientist will produce mathematical formulations, develop modeling tools, and perform data analysis and capability predictions on a variety of metrology technologies. The role will closely interface with other members of Advanced Development, Engineering, Algorithm and Application teams. The candidate should demonstrate ability to develop complex data analysis algorithms, software codes that can be used by others, understanding of experimental data analysis, and ability to guide others.

Qualifications

Education or experience which may include:

  • Designing, developing, modifying and diagnosing complex algorithms, utilizing C#, C++, R, Matlab or other tools and languages;

  • Ability to invent, develop and implement new algorithms and ideas

  • Matlab, Linear Algebra, Data Visualization

  • Advanced optimization topics including compressive sensing and regularization

  • Level Set and Implicit Surface methods

  • Distributed and Parallel Computation methods

  • Statistical analysis, modeling and optimization methods

  • Signal and image processing, computer vision and machine learning

  • Hands-on experience in object-oriented and functional programming

  • Hands-on experience with products such as JMP, R, Matlab is a plus

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctorate (Academic) with at least 2 years of experience. OR
  • Master's Level Degree with at least 4 years of experience. OR
  • Bachelor's Level Degree with at least 5 years of experience.

Group/Division With over 40 years of semiconductor process control experience, chipmakers around the globe rely on KLA to ensure that their fabs ramp next-generation devices to volume production quickly and cost-effectively. Enabling the movement towards advanced chip design, KLA's Global Products Group (GPG), which is responsible for creating all of KLA's metrology and inspection products, is looking for the best and the brightest research scientist, software engineers, application development engineers, and senior product technology process engineers. The RAPID division is the world leading provider of reticle inspection solutions for the semiconductor industry. The company provides inspection solutions to both the mask shops and the semiconductor fabs to ensure that lithography yields are consistently high thus enabling cost-effective manufacturing. Responsibilities KLA is seeking a motivated individual for an engineer position in world-class algorithm group within the reticle product division (RAPID). Responsibilities of this position include: * Utilize his/her skills in Fourier optics, mathematics, and software to develop algorithms to be integrated into KLA's state of the art inspection platforms. * Develop optical modeling of the inspection systems; improve formulation and calibration for better accuracy. This requires abstracting specific tasks into generic mathematic problem and finding customized algorithm solutions; balancing between rigor and practicality through comprehensive data analysis. * Bring forward creative ideas, develop production code and provide support as needed. * Work independently and lead a project team; provide input to hardware group on image quality and error budget base on algorithm design and performance; engage constructively with marketing on product requirements and provide training to application team. Qualifications * Ph.D. in Physics, Applied Math, EE, Computer Science or related discipline with 3 years of experience or MS with 6 years of experience preferred * Classical and Fourier optics * Algorithm development with C++ in a Linux environment * Significant experience in C++ production software development and object-oriented programming is essential. * Linear and non-linear optimizations * Computational lithography knowledge strongly preferred * Capability to formulate creative solutions through analyzing complex data * Previous deployment of Convolution Neural Network for image applications is a plus. * Machine Learning for image applications * Good oral and written communications skills to interact with other development and applications engineers daily Minimum Qualifications * Doctorate (Academic) with at least 3 years of experience OR * Master's Level Degree with at least 6 years of experience Equal Employment Opportunity KLA is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
