Aon is looking for a Sr. Actuary Consultant - Property and Casualty

As part of an industry-leading team, you will help empower results for our clients by delivering innovative and effective solutions as part of our Property and Casualty Global business group within Aon in our Bloomington office.

Your impact as an Analyst

  • Become advanced user of Excel

  • Builds and maintains templates

  • Develop familiarity with creating PowerPoint presentations

  • Develop understanding of insurance terminology

  • Types of reinsurance products, and how they work and their purpose

  • Types of terms and conditions, and how they impact the product

  • Works effectively with client team members and colleagues; supports and encourages collaboration within the unit or with other Aon resources.

  • Effectively participates in successful execution of at least one strategic initiative during the year and actively contributes ideas toward developing the strategic vision of the practice.

  • Supports a culture of innovation and thought leadership, personally contributes to innovation or thought leadership efforts.

  • Acts with integrity always and works every day in a way that positively impacts our clients, colleagues and communities.


  • Build actuarial models when data is limited.

  • Maintain effective day to day relationships with Aon team/client contacts.

  • Identify and build relationships with Aon Relationship Managers and prospects, securing strategic proposal opportunities for actuarial and related risk management consulting.

  • Work interdependently with Aon Risk Services and other Aon companies to develop cross-sale opportunities.


  • Minimum of 5+ years relevant work experience.

  • Strong knowledge of technology tools for actuarial analysis, technology applications and data utilization for actuarial functions

  • Excellent knowledge of actuarial methodologies and principles.

  • Pursuing your Associate or Fellowship, ACSA or FCSA.


  • Degree required in the field of Actuarial Science, Math, Finance or other business degrees.

You will be responsible for data preparation as well as producing and analyzing initial results. You will work closely with a variety of consultants and project managers who will help you increase your insurance knowledge and sharpen your actuarial skills – all while providing a blend of client facing skills as well. The Role * Pricing and Predictive Modeling – Pricing studies for both personal and commercial lines of insurance, using both more traditional actuarial pricing methods, as well as advanced predictive modelling techniques * Loss Reserving – Loss reserve analyses for both personal and commercial lines of insurance, including preparation of actuarial reports, Statements of Actuarial Opinion and Actuarial Opinion Summaries, using a variety of methods and stochastic approaches * Enterprise Risk Management – Enterprise risk assessment, financial risk modeling, capital management, and reinsurance optimization * Work collaboratively with other associates and consultants to determine initial data needs, examine obtained client information and perform follow up work required to populate complete data sets. * Develop a strong understanding of the P&C insurance industry and become familiar with the various steps needed to prepare data for reserving, pricing and capital management activities * Manage other analysts to complete analysis * Prepare the first draft of reports for review by the consultant, including backup exhibits, findings and narrative * Opportunity to participate in key learning and development opportunities * With more experience you will be able to have increased interaction with clients and contribute to sales and marketing efforts by drafting proposals and responding to requests for proposals The Requirements * Actuarial exam progress toward ACAS and/or FCAS credentials is highly encouraged * Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel and Access; knowledge of Emblem, Python, R, Radar Base, ResQ and Igloo is a plus * Strong written and oral communication skills * Well organized and detail oriented * Ability to respond to all communications effectively and in a timely manner * Ability to ask the right questions and seek help where appropriate * Flexibility and proven ability to diagnose and resolve issues; strong client service orientation * Interest and ability to think beyond the task at hand and understand how one's work fits into the broader landscape * Strong analytical and integrative skills including ability to draw conclusions and identify trends from data in a logical, systematic way * Ability to work both independently and on client teams and enjoy a fast-paced environment * Bachelors' Degree required EOE, including disability/vets Willis Towers Watson Bloomington MN
