Global Risk Solutions (GRS) Actuarial is seeking a Senior Actuarial Analyst or Assistant Actuary on the Reserving Support team. Reserving support team is responsible for maintaining balance sheet integrity by ensuring SBU reserves are adequate. The team conducts regular reserve reviews, ensures adequate tools and methodologies are in place, provides internal/external audits support as well as reporting support under multiple regulatory bases and keeps management informed.

In this role, you'll use your analytical talents to resolve thought provoking business problems and bring value to our customers. You will support a business group or company's profit growth and operations objectives by performing and reviewing advanced actuarial analysis.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform reserving analyses for the assigned segments, including independent review and peer review.

  • Partner with operating units to understand impacts of business changes and properly reflect in reserves.

  • Effectively communicate results to management and external audience outside of actuarial group.

  • Collaborate with teammates and local actuaries on data process analyses and report-out for GRS.

  • Produce reports for exhibits for review, summarization and documentation purposes.

  • Manage or participate in projects designed to improve the quality of information, analysis and reserving process.

  • Work with various parties such as finance, IT, auditors, claims and underwriting.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Masters degree preferred

  • Fellowship in the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS) or near-FCAS designation preferred

  • 5-10 years progressively responsible experience, including supervisory experience

  • Ability to foster teamwork and relationships across organizational line

  • Knowledge of underwriting concepts including company/agency relationships' importance to the business success.

  • Written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively express technical actuarial and statistical concepts to non-technical individuals internal and external to the organization

  • Advanced decision making, problem solving and analytical skills

  • Expands/maintains Actuarial professional knowledge through society (CAS/AAA) publications and meetings/conferences

  • Mentor, motivate and train junior staff and peers.

The Pricing and Planning Support Team within GRS Actuarial has an opening for an Actuarial Manager. You will use creative problem solving and actuarial pricing techniques coupled with project management and communication skills to improve the quality of business monitoring metrics within GRS. In this role you will lead a team responsible for the GRS business monitoring metrics including rate change and retention across GRS. You will execute the "One GRS" vision by organizing, streamlining, and reporting these metrics across GRS entities and lines of business. This includes building impactful reports which provide insights that drive GRS Executives strategic decisions. Responsibilities: * Coordinate with local actuarial and underwriting to improve the quality, completeness and consistency of business monitoring metrics. * Be the point person for providing GRS level business monitoring metric both internally and externally. Responsibilities include the monthly KPI reports which monitor rate change and retention metrics. * Improve and coordinate the Rate and Production Report used by the GRS President and GRS senior management to monitor premium production, rate changes and market conditions. * Develop additional metrics which will provide new insights related to production and profitability goals. * Design a mechanism of sharing key actuarial pricing related information and assumption across GRS. * Orchestrate cross unit collaboration to enhance rating tools and the capture of key pricing data across GRS. * Improve the efficiency of the monthly business monitoring reporting cycle. * Engage with underwriters and local actuaries in building business monitoring reports that allow them to drive continually improve their portfolios. * Conduct deep dive profitability competitor reviews as needed. * Assist with other wider team goals including profitability reviews, planning, and trend analyses as needed. * Train and develop staff. Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree with a minimum 5 years relevant experience required. * FCAS * Strong quantitative analysis, problem solving, and project management skills. * Sound knowledge of actuarial techniques and standards, as well as other business operations including financial, underwriting, legal, statistics, claims, sales, etc. * Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships and interact effectively with others within and outside the organization. * High-level knowledge of specialty and commercial lines of business desirable. * Ability to train and develop staff. * Strong MS Office Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, SQL and VBA skills preferred. * Experience using PowerBI and PowerPivot is a plus. * Demonstrated commitment to Liberty's Values, including a focus on continuous improvement and building a culture of inclusion Benefits: We value your hard work, integrity and commitment to positive change.
